My dive video is finally uploaded. Here is the uncut video of my dive. We got Clown Fish, Crocodilefish, and lots of Lionfish in this one. Enjoy.

This was my first dive since my spinal injury so its a big milestone for me to getting back into the water. It is a shore dive with a 70ft max depth, one hour in the water (video is significantly shorter)

@freemo @funny poast makes me appreciate the "mute instance" feature on qoto

Little known fact that few recreational divers know, but many tec divers realize. Boyancy control actually gets easier the deeper you go and boyancy is the hardest to control at your 10/20 foot safety stop.

The reason is because pressure increases 1atm every 10 meters, so pressure doubles in that first 10 meters, but only increase by 10% between 100 and 110 meters. This means a small change in depth at shallow depths results in a large change in gas volume and as such your boyancy, so its easy to loose control because if you rise a few feet you might go from neutral to positive boyancy, as you float to the top this will just keep accelerating.

The best way to handle this is just to make sure you have as little weight on you as possible while still being able to sink. This means you need less air in your bcd to be neutral so there is less volume change and its easier to control.

While you all are waiting for the actual video from my dive today (which is taking forever to upload) here are the 2 most interesting screen grabs. One is a pair of clownfish, likely mates, and the Sea Anemone they call home. The other is a picture of a Crocodilefish. Unfortunately I didnt get a video of the Moray Eel I saw on the dive.

Holy shit Jupiter os the brightest ive ever seen it tonight. In fact it was so bright i could even see it while the sun was out but setting. Amazing.

Dive went great today, 71 feet max, an hour dive, 66% nitrogen loading, boyancy was good, ascent profile was very gradual and safe. All the hallmarks of a perfect dive. Picture below shows my nitrogen tissue loading about 45 minutes after the dive. Link below if you want to see the full dive details.

i also took some video, will be sharing that soon.

Pro tip, when hiring someone to be a dive guide always hire the dude that looks like he hasnt showered in a month, has ragged long hair, and his big toes look like they were gnarled by a bear (the result of many tank drops on his feet). You wont regret it, these people have salt water in their veins.

This pretty much sums up any advice I have with regards to poa.st

Tomorrow's Dive plan:

EAN32 gas
25m/75 feet max depth
Max bottom time for NDL 30 minutes.

Looking good! We will probably stay a bit shallower and get even more time under im thinking. Ill be wearing doubles so im good within any reasonable NDL.

Got another 2-3 hours of practice diving in the pool in. Mostly practiced getting my bcd on and off and then tested what weights id need on an empty tank. I finally feel comfortable enough to do a real dive in the ocean so i scheduled one for tomorrow.

My end goal is to do the 70 meter diver at the blue hole in 5 weeks, but this first dive will be an easy shore rec dive at 25 meters with 32% nitrox and some doubles. Will be my first real dive since my spina cord injury and ive been out of the water for so long im a bit nervous, but all my skills were spot on on the pool so im sure ill be fine.

Study hard what interests you the most in the most undisciplined, irreverent and original manner possible.

@freemo @trinsec I think that's just a symptom of mild decompression sickness and/or the stress from adjusting the partial pressures of the different dissolved gasses in your blood which can inhibit oxygen metabolism. I wouldn't expect just pressurizing and depressurizing to actually increase metabolism by any appreciable margin, though I could be wrong.

I feel like you could loose weight just from off gasing nitrogen all day long. Someone needs to do an experiment where they just put people in chambers that repeatedly pressurize then depressuraize over and over and see if people loose weight.

Spent 4 hours practicing my SCUBA diving in a pool, spent the last hour doing a practice dive at 10 feet. This was my first time since my injury diving at all and i cant express how happy it makes me to see my tissue getting nitrogen saturated again (see the bottom of thr attached picture). Link to the activity below for a yone who wants to see. I have to say my boyancy was pretty close to spot on.

Congrats on producing a non-Cloudflare option, @weepjp. We look forward to seeing good instances like qoto using it?

BTW today we noticed #qoto also uses #hCaptcha. The cloudflare captcha used to train #autonomousDrones.

In what places other than login page does qoto use hCaptcha? Maybe a FOSS and non-proprietary #captcha can remedy this?
