Most ham radio software is abysmally written in almost every way. It is also rarely open-source so no one wants to help fix it.
I think ill take a 2 or 3 day trip to the mountains and do some shooting at the range... Really excited to try out the new configuration and to sight her in!
@freemo Oooo I like that long-distance routing idea. I'm not against IGates, but at the same time they're one more thing to fail and another source of headaches. I'm all for simple.
@freemo I can only imagine you shooting now and the bullets magically turning around to go back.
@freemo I like my Vortex magnifier and have heard good things about Holosun’s, not sure if any of them come in FDE though. But there’s spray paint 🙃
I just bought some really nice domains for my #APRS project:
aprs-x.com (also got .org)
axps.org
I plan to use aprs-x for the protocol specification itself and axps for the software I am writing that will run it.

And there's a *lot* more where these came from.
So I decided to eat the 100$ I spent ont he monstrum and order a Sig Sauer Julier3 magnifier to replace it... It is twice the cost at 200$ but I found one that is FDE and the color should match. I am also hoping the better quality brand here is going to get me a better eye-box.
@freemo They also predate the first land plants by 15-20 million years.
Predate. The first. Land plants.
But nooooooo, those stupid Rockies and Alps get more credit!
Just found this amazing english-to-latin dictionary that includes all the conjugations and synonyms! Really love it.

George Takei is really a class act. Always liked the guy.. this was nice that he reached out to me. Even beyond that he almost always likes my comments... Its nice he takes the time.
My CQC (Close Quarters Combat) AR-15 build is complete!
Features I added:
* 45 degree angled fore grip
* 45 degree angled backup iron sights
* Sig Sauer MSR red dot reflex sight
* Monstrum 3x flip-to-side magnifier
All in all I love the setup.
My main criticisms are really just two, one purely aesthetic, the other functional. Both of which reside with the Monstrum 3x.
1) The FDE color is off from the standard and looks bad
2) It has a very limited eye-box and thus can be hard to use and may cause issues in a high-stress situation.
Only reason I went with Monstrum here rather than the juliet3 that sig makes for it was because I couldnt find an FDE colored magnifier from Sig... But after seeing the eye box I think I will just order the black one and call it a day. That said if you want to save a little money and are ok with the eye-box the Monstrum is still looking good outside of that. The fact it has diopter adjustment is always nice.
@freemo Thank you for being here, friend.
#DailyBloggingChallenge (001/10)
In the past I have been quite fruitful with daily challenges. Successfully achieved the 50 day #StatisticsChallenge and slowly creeping up on 365 day mark of the #MappingChallenge (@barefootstache@en.osm.town) with less than a month to go. Thus, I will attempt the daily blogging challenge.
The requirements will be quite simple for the begining and might expand through time:
- It must use `hashtag (XX/YY)` format. This has two benefits:
1. One can follow the hashtag thereby potentialy creating its own atom/rss feed.
2. One can filter out these posts if unwanted.
- It must be post ready before slumber. This puts the focus on writing rather than publishing and gives a grace period if no internet connection.
- If written on mobile, it must be written with the #8pen keyboard.
- It must be at least one paragraph or three sentences long.
This challenge was sparked after reading the article
