Based on my experience 'nobody' / you / developers don't have many answers.
Apologise if it grouped too much but just reduce it down to 'nobody in my experience' and 'no developers in my experience' ... so if not many say it ... or know it ...and you ask Fediverse and the same happens... then that's better than the attitude that you ended with which is "anyway, i'm not wasting anymore time on this. cheers." (which kind of says a lot)
There are questions here. If you don't know, Just say and move on. I'll chalk you up as another person who honestly doesn't know.
There are plenty of people who build on what they don't really know and didn't make (like any other user using something- same for developers).

I've seen apps almost arbitrarily jump from low number to latest in one go- why? (in it's features not much changed)
Nobody knows why that's what. Maybe not even developers.
So no offence, the reason "for security" is I think is almost a number thing like kids wanting the latest and can be abused / uneducated in a blanket way to 'cover' it - because IF it's without specific reasoning or a kind of "I'm not sure just get the latest, screw the old skool people" then it's a big mistake and cutting out whole generation of old users to get mostly new spyware (just for a anti-spyware app). I think it is measurable new Androids and hardware have a ton of spyware / sensors for everything and sending more signals than ever/
█So I'd like to know (politely) for this app why not Android 4?
For example is it really serious or just some aesthetics?

I use #IRC and see many still do.
Old tech is harder to hack on a immediate circumstantial basis, but is also harder to actively access portably.
New tech is the inverse of that, two sides of the same coin, which people usually dismiss the latter for the reason of ease of use being the best choice.
Helping people (other than 1-off) - what's that called? ,,,,since everything else is mostly more of a job / money thing held together in 'society'...
@bonifartius I think I get it and even doing it already so here's what I think you are basically describing in it's various forms:
to make friends
to explore together regardless of past or class
to mentor
to keep each other company
to coach / egg on / permute ideas
to trust / relax
to stick to the positives
to believe in others / yourself
to learn how to be diverse / allow diversity knowing it branches out
Yes overall the flexible and human-loving / life-loving mindset.
I welcome your own list around what you mean and even crossing off some of mine if they are not towards what you mean

Ok not quite but IRC for example will do fine (used by DJ people and gamers for instant 1 room for shouts and comments -
nothing else does that so fast and freely)! So yes IRC ... for those that have fans I mean else XMPP / emails probably !

Can be a trade-off but consider New = #Spyware and they didn't AND COULDN'T embed as much evil hardware and code - so literally they are limited by you protecting yourself when using limited retro hardware (old mobile phones I mean + including old smart phones).
I admit there are exceptions like operating system that have caught up - using Linux Mint - but even old WinXP install would be ok/better for mostly offline use (the trade off is maybe in WinXP's favour for how easy it is to use / manage system than Liinux for newbie). Could be wrong for this but again phones easier example...
Thinking of Android phone MOSTLY here... so less Android version = less problems + less extra overkill hardware (CRAZY 3 camera on phones, triggers for when you move etc).... NOT NEEDED
Happy to hear thoughts, never perfect but seems old is better limited and less mistakes by user that doesn't choose to undo all the settings or find the secrets to dumbing phone down...

+ basic imaging even though you can still use old Android for almost everything I've tried!!

@valhalla_dev Perhaps not only that, and I say tentatively, (without referring to anything else that this post) is that the stuff you / one wants to do sometimes might wants to be perfect or need to be tested or feel personal etc... so you might not do that as video, and yes perhaps what has already been done is easier and needs to be less brave for... so anyway fw thoughts and courage either way.

We have a well drilled deep into the fractured bedrock of the Berkshire Hills. It is slightly acidic and moderately low in minerals (electrical conductivity of 50-100 μS/cm). After filtering through a bed of calcium carbonate to protect the pipes and sweeten the water (de-acidify), it is absolutely delicious.
I installed a restaurant grade faucet in my kitchen recently. Among the many other things I enjoy about it, one of the best came as a complete surprise.
Unlike residential faucets, the restaurant faucet does not have a traditional aerator. The faucet outlet is designed so that at high flows, the water forms a turbulent column of aerated water. But at low flows? Absolutely crystal clear laminar flow with hardly any disturbance. Just a slightly twisting bar of laminar flow. It is a thing of beauty.
And now, I find that I can only drink still water that has poured into my glass via laminar flow, like liquid glass, without the addition of tiny air bubbles. I just love watching it.
Has anyone else discovered the joy of laminar flow?

I'll assume you mean using also BBS and IRC and then in your next post going more to extremes.
But any actually BBS still exists or could and was a different more local vibe (forcibly from telephone charges so good in that way) so let's say we still have that but no need for telephone line...
And then IRC much more used in specific ways though importantly *you or I don't see them*,
I am still shocked that less stubborn people than me use it and I'm not sure why other than it's super easy to fire up and do DJ sets and gaming for shouts and gets basic people texting in a room... what else does that?
