@RubyGold Hi, can I check how you uploaded this picture file - it's a whopping large 2700Kb when the version is a few hundred in size...

So just wanted to see, for example, if you copy and pasted this image or actually uploaded / dragged a big file format (not common on )

Thanks appreciate it.

Mastodon Filesize Bloat - Pasted Pictures = Big #PNG Filesize for all #Fediverse

/

2.7MB PNG FILE (from copy and paste process of images... files as pasted output are massive frequently).

OF BIG 2.7MB PNG FILE HERE:
mastodon.social/@RubyGold/1143

Same but PNG as a pasted version = FILE

2mb more than original picture as drag/drop for example...

So copy and paste costs the Fediverse a whole lot more and actually takes time to download (ever wonder while it crawls some pictures?)!

TONS OF BANDWIDTH AND STORAGE / DOWNLOAD / CACHE just to see few hundred KB pic for what was 1 small JPG!

is useful and PNG I understand cleans data (doesn't store it) but surely a could do the same (there might be more reasons but I don't see them)...

kindness is (not as) free (as people say it - you need energy / feeling good about yourself))

@digitalsnow Without energy it's not easy to feel good... so 'free' seems a good idea for no money but in the heat of the moment and as a human group of cells, you almost can't react if you are really tired and mishearing things or having same problems over and over... almost normal not to be kind - yes you can train it but everyone has a breaking point - doing intensive sports fitness training while even counting is very hard / easy to lose track of time or own patience...

dropping focus on things, like children, not possible (and they require a spaghetti of things)

@indonische I like this post best for:

whenever you think that your time, energy and focus is not enough. Its actually your focus has too much spread.

Try "Let go something unimportant in your life." (while not killing it but do less)

BUT all this said, it can be hard because usually it involves intensive time-consuming work of bringing up children who end up doing the same...

So while kinda of true to most of this post there is a the "but" which is is balancing starving children (which you can't let go), shelter (for you and/or them), getting food, you own morals (feeling good), etc etc and from lack of energy or jumping for money you can't do it as easily (or actually both ways are hard and made like that as ).

Really the main leverage I'm pointing too is that level of mind and physical damage (though I favour the Bruce Willis / Jackie Chan style even though 9of10 maybe not make, that is the basically bad game we are 'given' (forced into / ignorant parents did little against) and just have to run the gauntlet starving once every few days....

Am I wrong (?) towards trying to change a status quo (surely not doing the same and paying more taxes because that doesn't help)

Simply basically high prices and a lot of time need just to stay alive physically ... and by the time you're alive you're exhausted and out of energy (so in a similar boat as no food)

I think the bourgeois - as most people I think are - work all the time and having empty houses paying high rent saying their too busy. And some like that too.

I definitely don't believe in almost at all (it just feeds more of the same and encourages rent increases) so starving or without house and spending on food only is best if really that low on money...

Even if we could simplify it's still hard sleeping on streets (or even in a car) sometimes isn't even possible as it's so uncomfortable...

So whichever way is hard.... is what I wanted to say and...

dropping things, like children, not possible (and they are a spaghetti of things).

People dig themselves into a hole / paying endlessly more than what they get paid... and others are trying to make it harder...

Not an easy one.

Ah the of life... -

see for better writing and pictures (I'm tired but pleasantly so)

I need explaining to about 2nd (top right) picture, which I assume is 'left' politics person pushing 'middle' politics person into 'right' politics person's side...

Because I don't understand what the pushing part is (or more examples of that as a metaphor) as that in the picture is physical and politics is not as clear as that... am I correct?

(So it's a metaphor for rejection - but in which ways possible?)

Not tech! People building first!

people are blind basically building the future trouble.

(We have enough already STOP)

Just use existing great basic things towards and focus on / increment increase togetherness)

Not just solo work to make the next greatest weapon / crap / disposable code / or whatever.

People, not so much tech!

#RationalWiki appears to have escaped the threat of imminent closure due to an out-of-court settlement with the plaintiffs. The terms have not been made public.

There is an apropos article in today's Guardian by journalist Carole Cadwalladr on weaponized lawsuits by tech oligarchs.

#ALTTEXT TO THIS #FROG PIC

@checkervest TO THIS PIC

" Very large heavily textured (large dots and small circular impressions) unfired ceramic frog.

It has a giant scowl and angry eyebrows and deep bags under its eyes.

This giant frog is at the end of his rope and ready to make it someone else’s business.

Next to it is a fired and glazed frog that is about a fifth the size. It’s a significantly simpler version of the same form and it’s been glazed in brown and yellow.

It looks alert and bright eyed and much less grumpy than these guys usually do"

1/ Fediverse can do better + 2/Not sure "If hate always won, You would not exist"...

@Snowshadow@mastodon.social
@knowattitude
@hadon

1/ And I would add... try to see that similarly to others (I think that is also the way too so it matters less whichever way you feel if almost everyone is accepting / able to reply much more... which I personally think mostly ignores others online AND as reflection in person doesn't really engage / want to solve your problems / ping pong etc)

Ignoring / Silence on is a bit of my in the bonnet because people are a bit cold or even excuse themselves with busy while never solving much sometimes (bad loop of busy rather than good loop of busy).

---------------------------------
2/ About the last bit
(not to take away from post)

About not existing - This bit is too open to I think... the logic of this or that... and with it's close to not wanted to exist from either self or people not wanting us.

IT IS POSSIBLE to be born with in the world (!)
I's not really 1:1 way to say it or True statement and leaves it too open about existing and hate winning... again you can be born into it and not relative to hate winning.

I guess you reply to this (or ignoring it) will confirm my experience with and people basically ignoring each other and that being part of all . Unfortunately.

Said with friendliness...

It’s raining!!! After months of drought! I just went to the balcony & cried of relief, for the trees & earth & plants… then went downstairs to stand barefoot on the wet ground, & let the rain touch my skin … shaking & smiling… Yes, this feels like the scene from “V for vendetta” ! thepopculturestudio.com/2015/1

is more fair / considerate...
...reciprocal... flexible / giving... people orientated

Authoritarianism 101 - controlled through terror and fear...

Here's my pep talk after studying authoritarianism:

1) They never truly expect a long-term resistance movement be they think people are a collection of trauma triggers who are easily controlled thru terror.

2) If they can't terrorize you 24/7 in your mind, they have already lost the war.

3) The single best way you can resist fascism is to not let them terrorize you constantly. Protect your mental health to ensure you are not constantly in a terrorized state.

4) Keep connecting to who you are at your core. Your values, preferences, ethics, and beliefs. Build up capacity to resist.

5) Remember they are like abusive parents: they only see us extensions of them. They have no clue how powerful joy and community and self-expression can be. We can use this to our advantage — we can be the strong-willed child they never saw coming.

Spending time connecting to your true self is not selfish in these times — it's intricately connected to a resistance movement that is tied to honoring our bodies, our communities, and to the land. We have to build capacity to resist by being exactly who we are!

All Tech is increasingly Capitalist 1st,...

And therefore almost useless for moral change.

Their is better than what we can do with it (when we have to invest AND buy INTO it first AND THEN try to undo it AFTER...)

Change is almost useless when buying INTO it first AND THEN trying to undo it 😆 :blobrofl:

A lot isn't because of who / it.

people at the top controlling render it all useless and damage the earth meanwhile....
