#physics #weather **California** Just had a grandson chat on the ammie thing. They are in endless rain, sometimes an inch an hour. One side effect is that there are potholes on the main highway that can swallow your car. She blew out two tires, and you can't avoid them being sandwiched between two trucks. Luckily, she has the 'run flat' tires so you can limp home, but the downside is that they are tough to replace. The common idea is that it's all over in a week, and I said 'yes' to their hopeful faces. Really, it's a 96 year record broken. I'm not telling them they have weeks of more rain.
**Populist Science** I am so happy to be on qoto, which is definitely not populist. I really thought it would all be destroyed by now, and I was wrong. I enjoy 'Populist Science' but I enjoy the Scientific Method more, but that's for another day. I still think I have as many readers as my blog (breaking into double digits!) and that's ok. I attribute the fact that the populists have stopped using 'lazy rivers' for the California disaster, to somebody reading me. **Don't shatter my dreams!** I'm signing off for the morning, since my brain has to go into the deep dive for sleep tonight.
@Cdhart @dangillmor That would be great! Texas can do some atmospheric physics. :) Don't let the PR dept run it!
@kreyren That's the whole world!
#physics #weather **Exxon Knew** This is conspiracy at its best. It implies that there is a table of evil-genius old men controlling the world. **In reality, they are stupid as dirt.** They were just 'riding the hockey stick' and over-extrapolating like everybody at the time. It's like ratcheting up the roller-coaster and extrapolating to the stars. Everybody does that, and the swoop down is always surprising. The actual world temperatures from NOAA show the rise to 2016. This is then shown as their 'accurate projections'. I'm not saying it's wrong in an influencer sense. They made a lot of money on this. Good for them!
@darryl I used to fix my smashed Nexus screens, but the newer models used more glue and became impossible.
@anson I think that's why the chatter is free. Can you imagine the soul-sucking it is doing?
@post And when I write my new book "Harried", I'll name names. :)
@post The start of all this is rather sordid. When illustrious people said there was no physics in the 'carbon thermal blanket hypothesis' they were personally attacked and their livelihoods destroyed. And now covid. With both, you can say there is no physics, and that's scientific dissent. It's the new way of enriching the influencers.
@post Wow, this is exactly what happened with climate change. No scientific dissent allowed. :)
@ZingerLearns @edutooters Wait until the Superchat comes out, for money. Nothing will be left. :)
@volkris I wonder if T or B ever read anything. This is a case of sleepy young aides who also don't read anything. These days I don't think you have to brand any paper with a classified stamp, nobody is going to read it. Maybe, a classified tiktok dance -- Yo, the ruskies got a fighter, it can fly higher, makes you a crier, whoompa, whoompa. :)
#linux **Bluetooth mouse** When it goes glichty and stutters, just turn it off and on again. Took me a long time to find that advice, and it really works. I swear there's a leak in the driver.
@volkris The issue wasn't even raised when Trump controlled Justice. Just saying.. :)
@kmic I have exactly the same problem. My hair is a rich dark brown in the mirror, but horribly gray in photos.
pps. from my blog "Our good friends, the influencers have turned an Einstein thing on its ear. Instead of "That which cannot be measured, does not exist." goes to "That which we do not measure, does not exist." These are the biggest energy events the world has seen, and they will not be measured.
Descended from Unix freaks, I evolved to Linux. Some people might consider me old at 60+, but I'm suing the world to get my age down to 30.
I have a blog https://ontario-geofish.blogspot.com/
and it is read by 8 people. My formal education is in an extinct branch of science called geophysics. Since there was no money in it, I went to engineering. I've done tunnels, radwaste thingies, etc.
