@fearnow I used avalon.fun with friends and found it an accurate recreation of the board game.
Looks like it was due to shifting to weekly rather than nightly builds, combined with dropping one due to their signing problem. I just found it a little disconcerting going from a new release every night to nothing for thirteen days in a row.
Now all that's left is to wait for my device to get promoted to 17.1.
Also worth knowing - how to use v4l2loopback, snd_aloop and mplayer to fake any video file as your hardware audio and video inputs.
I think it's moot given the current state of the race (the odds of him being elected president are almost negligible), but in principle, if the states of emergency Trump has declared related to the current pandemic are still in effect, he will have extra powers beyond what the president normally does, particularly relating to healthcare. He could probably get some done via executive order, but considerably less than if he had support from the other branches of government.
@freemo I own a Printrbot Simple (the original, laser-cut wood version) which has been something of a disappointment. The calibration cubes print great but real-world shapes tend to leave the print head at a slightly different "zero" every time it goes up a level, which manifests as skewing the z-axis. The controller board also has a tendency to fail; in fairness to the manufacturer, they know this and offer a very good deal on a new board if you send in your old one.
@design_RG I think you've got a C-119 Flying Boxcar there
Huh, I mostly hear it from conservatives/right-libertarians (Eric S. Raymond uses the description frequently). I'm surprised it's not a term you more frequently encounter, since that's also where you were on the compasses you did a while back.
@freemo I notice that many of the ads I've seen this week are posted by accounts with the bot flag set. Since it's already in the server rules that bots may not post to the public timeline, can the server be configured to automatically detect and report such posts and mute them pending your review?
If it's a spambot you can suspend the account, if a legitimate bot you can warn the owner to post unlisted, and if a real user you can let him know he needs to unset the bot flag on his account.
@freemo Glad to chip in. We're not paying anyone to be the maid here, so we have to take responsibility for keeping the space tidy ourselves.
@hrisskar I use Pale Moon for my main and plain Chromium (not Chrome) as a backup. They may not be built like Fort Knox but to my knowledge haven't ever allowed malware onto my system.
Does anyone know why there are no new #LineageOS downloads in the past four or five days? The website shows a history of nightly builds that cuts off after 24 March or 25 March.
It seems the 17.1 builds suffered from a signing problem this week, but it's not clear what happened to the 16.0 builds. Are they affected by the same bug? Discontinued as development shifts to the newest version? Paused due to the virus-fighting measures imposed around the world?
@IOcase Snoonet mainly, although I've in the past been more active on freenode and spotchat
SMS/MMS
Email
IRC
XMPP/Jabber
Along with QOTO, this pretty much meets my needs - although there are a handful of proprietary services I use because they are common to everyone who needs to participate in that setting. The little niche ones are interesting but the people I need to talk to don't use them, so there's little point to me doing so.
@SecondJon they're still reporting only confirmed cases here, but that could change in the coming days. I wouldn't ascribe it to any ulterior motives, though.
There will some with coronavirus who are never tested, so the number of positive tests is an undercount of those who have the disease. On the other hand, there will be some people with a cold/flu who had coincidental contact with a coronavirus patient, so the symptoms+contact figure is an overcount.
I think that up to this point, the higher prevalence of the flu has led to the undercount being the lesser of two evils (i.e. off by less than the overcount). But if coronavirus infections reach the point that the testing infrastructure is unable to keep up, that will change.
@freemo @design_RG @mngrif @arteteco
Why does that change the argument? Suppose @user@example.com is a ban-evading alt of an account I blocked, and the admin of example.com refuses to do anything about it. It's not clear to me what is accomplished by you silencing their instance that isn't accomplished by me hiding everything from the instance. On the flip side there's a clear benefit to the latter in that QOTO users with no complaint against example.com are still free to interact as they wish.
@freemo @design_RG @mngrif @arteteco
I'd be more supportive of an instance silence if we had the feature proposed here. That would make silencing an instance merely an overrideable default, and I have no problem with the mods trying to set up sane defaults to ensure new users have a generally decent experience off the bat.
@freemo @design_RG @mngrif @arteteco
I'd like to register my support for letting the affected user deal with this himself using the "Hide everything from example.com" feature.
The following is on QOTO's about page.
What won't get you banned:
Anything that can be solved by a personal block
Why not apply the same standard to silencing instances as to banning users?
@realcaseyrollins It took me a minute to figure this one out - there's an error in the headline. Southern Poverty Law Centre abbreviates to SPLC; SLPC stands for single-lever power control, which we use in aircraft design.
@snow
> They just don't know how to stop sharing them.
> They don't give a damn about some people feeling annoying for too many of them.
This applies to social media in general, not just cats. People post what they want; they don't care what you want to see.
> The thing they feel cute could be ugly for other people.
Equally so:
The thing they feel interesting could be boring for other people.
The thing they feel insightful could be insipid for other people.
The thing they feel important could be trivial for other people.
You will have a bad time here if you are easily upset by ugly, boring, insipid, or trivial content. It will always exist, but you can still enjoy the worthwhile content mixed in with the chaff.
