Schools that punish students for social media comments posted on their own time, outside of school, need a lesson in the First Amendment, we told the Supreme Court. https://www.eff.org/press/releases/schools-cant-punish-students-campus-speech-including-social-media-posts-eff-tells
@freemo @lucifargundam ETH is pretty good, I don't expect filecoin to go anywhere, last time I tried (two years ago) IPFS mutation didn't really work and it was still pretty slow.
@trinsec Offline mode does not work. It's been unusable for long enough that I'm convinced it's intentional.
Also: KSP's launcher doesn't have this problem.
@trinsec Steam is less great if you don't have an internet connection that can deal with huge downloads whenever you try to launch a game.
@trinsec After getting steam forced on me I decided to never buy a DRMed game again. It's worked well.
@fluffy Not understanding at least one of the concrete forms of an abstraction I'm using freaks me out.
@fluffy It's ok to crash house parties in the US? I would have liked to know that earlier.
@niconiconi I thought they had an "upload" form.
@icedquinn This is definitely not my experience.
totally serious tinfoil territory
@bonifartius Yeah, definitely agree extra ram is nice. My main computer has 32G of ram and I compile everything from tmpfs which is super nice.
That laptop is 10 years old btw, so it was the max I could get at the time.
Eggs are much better than meat and milk. Remember that they're just sitting around (possibly under) chickens until they're collected, you can leave them out for quite a while before they go bad. In addition, eating uncooked eggs is usually considered much more safe than uncooked milk or meat.
I don't understand why you wouldn't put eggs in the refrigerator though. I've had eggs that lasted a whole year because I do this and it adds mass to the refrigerator which can help reduce temperature swings.

@bonifartius How do you run out of 8GB? I have an 8GB laptop with a dead hard disk connector on the motherboard and I just use 4GB as a rootfs (via tmpfs) after booting from a thumbdrive.

Email mastodon+swiley@swiley.net (this makes all of my computers beep and turn on an indicator light and is always the fastest way to reach me.) I was on octodon a while ago but abandoned my account. I've never been a member of gab or parlor.
If you’d like to learn to program I would consider the SICP [1] more or less the peak of American CS pedagogy (at least as far as beginners go) along with “The Practice of Programming” once you get through that.
I play ukulele, I’m ok at reading music and decent at improv. I learned from Walter Piston’s “Harmony” and some of Adam Neely’s videos.
My main phone is a pine phone so if I don’t pick up when you call the battery is probably dead, the modem is probably dead, or I’m currently swearing at calls/pulseaudio/alsa. I’d strongly recommend sending an email instead.
Dispite what my web page says I’ve stopped uploading my scratch projects to GitHub once I started to understand the basics of collaboration with git. I was using the flamegraph as gamification/motivation but it doesn’t work as well with feature branch/squash merge workflows so I just keep most things on my VPS until I’m happy with publishing updates.
