My first identity was in 2008, when it was still called (the former was coined sometime 2010–2012). I used to run a public instance for the Philippines, and had my own solo instance. ( The Philippines is the capital of the world since 2008. [1] [2])

I love to read . My first was Book 5 of the original entitled, “The Mystery of Chimney Rock” when I was around four (I still have the book somewhere with a missing cover). By fourteen, I enjoyed reading a non-fiction book entitled simply as “Brain”, and dreamed of becoming a neuroscientist, which sadly remained a dream.

My longest read were 's “Pandora's Star” and “Judas Unchained” (more or less 1,000 pages each). My number one favourite is 's “Dreams of Stardust” (I even bought every copy I saw and gave it away).

When it comes to genre, I read anything. In the classics, I love by Charlotte Brontë. I also read 's “American Gods”. But I do have genres I favour more than others: and . To be more specific, science fiction and fantasy with and elements, if the author can combine it together, even better (like Lynn Kurland's novels: + fantasy + and sometimes with too).

That said, my taste in live-action shows is somewhat similar. And the more complex and/or engaging the story is, the more I love it. Some examples are:

I also love , but what is close and dear to me is , in particular classic Asian archery, and Japanese archery called ( ). A must.

? This one is a long history. Who doesn't love games, right? To sum it up, I started with Nintendo's “Game & Watch”, then “Family Computer”. I also was able to experience playing in Atari and MSX; as well as table-top machines. My favourite games are: “Super Mario Bros.”, “”. As well as, “Curse of the Azure Bonds” () and the Krynn series () by TSR, “Sim Farm”, “Sim City”, “”, “”, “Neverwinter Nights”, “Eye of the Beholder”, “” series, and the Carmen Sandiego franchise, for the PC. (*cough*Digger*cough*)

In modern , I highly recommend , , , and the open-source game, .

For extended reality, or XR, games, I play , , , and ; sometimes .

Last, but definitely not the least, I am a as defined in Acts 24. It means that I believe in the and the .

The purpose of Substack is

1. to make investors money and

2. keep journalists siloed, fragmented and controllable

What's the best way to post multi-paragraph content over ActivityPub?

I submitted a proposal to include the Neurodivergent and Autistic symbols in the default set of software. You can read it here:

“Building a More Inclusive Future: Adding Neurodivergent and Autistic Symbols to Fediverse Default Emojis”

codeberg.org/fediverse/fediver

It was also added in as “Accessibility and Diversity best-practices” by Arnold Schrijver (@-smallcircles@social.coop ). It is available here: github.com/gabek/fedidocs/issu

Please reshare/boost/retoot, and hopefully we can all work together to achieve this goal.

Have a great day everyone!

How #blocklists prevent the internet to be #decentralized – and safe.

But you know what currently is the biggest headache to us? Blocklists. Yes. The well-intending, self-appointed, unaudited and unaccountable policing "services", non-commercial and commercial.

We think, that the current blocklist ecosystem is not helping the small and independent contributors on the web, but reinforce and widen the gap between free and independent sites, and large proprietary platforms. How often get the big boys blocked? Who will get onto the list without getting checked twice? Instance operators like Codeberg face a lot of headache if the situation does not improve.

Blocklists are casually used (without double-checking who is getting blocked) … The policy is Strike first, maybe adjust later.

Who holds creators of blocklists accountable for adding false positive domains? Whom do we trust to moderate our communication infrastructure, whom do we trust to enable and disable access to the web?

Is Strike-first-adjust-later fair and legal?

Happy #NewYear #Philippines!

It's 2023-01-01 in the Gregorian #calendar

Let's declare this year as our Nation and Country's recovery. The year of #Ppop (i.e. the Philippine music industry) and #Pdrama revival!

#NewYear2023 #BagongTaon2023 #BagongTaon #OPM

@philippines @pinoy @ppop @pdrama

I am sorely disappointed!

A random netizen asked (translated), “Can we report to the Department of Labour and Employment, employers who force us to dance during #Christmas parties?”

To which an influential personality, and attorney, replied (translated), “It depends on the song 🤪”

Sure, it is funny. But, it is no laughing matter for those of us who are #Neurodivergent. And for someone like him, he should’ve had known better.

(as of this post, 2022-12-08 13:24:07 ACT, said influential personality haven’t made a serious reply to the question)

@curtis@social.teci.world They are very trigger happy to defederate whole instance at the drop of a hat. I earned 7 defederation's by expressing my disagreement with centralised fediblock stuff going around. Hopefully these kind of people will defedeate enough to the point they are not a part of a fediverse.

As long as the Fediverse faction that champions freedom of expression for all, continues to exist, then it will all eventually work itself out, as cancel culture fades into obscurity

A Peek into the Fediverse

There’s a low grade war going on in the Fediverse, just like in the real world, where one group of users/instance owners wants to live in a heavily moderated ecosystem where no one can get their feelings hurt, and the other group believes in less institutional level moderation and more personal responsibility for tuning your social media feed.

The heavy moderation faction have gone so far as to push cancel culture to a point of trying to maintain instance banning lists, to isolate social media content so that it cannot have a chance of hurting the feelings or infecting the minds of those who choose to be heavily moderated.

Just like in the real world, the personal freedom faction (thick skin) is slowly gaining ground, and exposing the hypocrisy of cancel culture and hurt feelings faction (thin skin).

What is sad is that the Fediverse was originally conceived to champion freedom of expression for the oppressed. It can be configured to serve both the thin and thick skinned users, and will thrive, but the moderation wars add a layer of interest for those, like me, who are armchair sociologists.

I still hear a lot about how the term #Fediverse is not catchy, and have the first impression of “The Feds”. Maybe it's time to use a new label?

(please boost/reshare, thank you!)

* Note. This is not an official poll or anything. This is only meant to see what the larger community feels and thinks about it.

(Poll will end after 7 days. You can select multiple answers.)

A little context:

* Federated #SNS first came online in 2008, with the platform known as identica (today known as #GNUsocial)
* The Fediverse was called as #identiverse back then.
* Other federated SNS platforms publicly launched in 2010, like Friendika (originally MistPark, and now as #Friendica); and #diaspora, to mention two.
* Someone suggested using a new term instead of “identiverse”.
* “Fediverse” was floated sometime 2010–2012, and the rest is #history. (aside: If I remember correctly, diaspora came up with “The Fediverse” first, or it was inspired by “Fediverse”?)

That was us when the federated SNS was mainly techies. Ten years later, I think it is safe to say that the landscape has changed considerably.

Perhaps, let's see what the larger federated SNS feels and thinks about it, we need to find a more non-techie label for the federated SNS network (using the #AcitivtyPub protocol).

The one and only rule is this, stay away from BRAND-based labels.

The current suggestions below came from this thread: https://mastodon.social/@youronlyone/109260510719668078

To be specific:

Feel free to propose other cool names!

* Note. This is not an official poll or anything. This is only meant to see what the larger community feels and thinks about it.

I wonder how many servers blocked social.vivaldi.net just because it's managed by a corporation, and they are not publishing their own instance bans and suspensions?

For today's #YourOnlyOne #Recommendations

Are you a new #Mastodon user? Maybe the default #UI is not to your liking, or it's too slow for you?

Check out this alternative #frontend (or #webclient) to Mastodon: pinafore.social

“Pinafore is a web client for Mastodon, designed for speed and simplicity.”

As the project's tagline said, it is indeed fast and simple. Less distraction, more interaction.

It is an open-source project launched in 2018 by Nolan Lawson, under the #AGPL license. If you want to host it yourself, simply visit the project's repository: github.com/nolanlawson/pinafor.

For updates and support, the official #Fediverse account is: @pinafore.

Official launch and other information about the project: nolanlawson.com/2018/04/09/int

@FediFollows Myself? Haha. I'm from the #Philippines my fediverse accounts are: @youronlyone@hashi.icu (hashi.icu) and @youronlyone (c.im).

Other Filipinos I know are (in no particular order): (early #FollowFriday #FF)

@rom
@Ademagnaye
@condeHRW
@evelyn
@MapAmore
@indiohistorian
@enzo
@extraricebowl
@bobreyes
@ssora

There are also folks from Korea in tingyeo.kr ; planet.moe (two of the most popular servers in Korea). Also see: kmastodon-status.herokuapp.com and relay.mastodon.kr

There is also kpop.social. More about Kpop than being Asian, but you'll probably find more Asians in the instance talking in English.

My other presence, hashi.icu (and a lot of other Misskey instances) are either Japanese, English, Korean, or a combination of those languages.

In Thailand, there is mastodon.in.th

There were Fediverse servers from the Philippines (used to host one myself), Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, 5-10 years ago. I'm not sure if any new ones took over.

Do you have any accounts on here you would recommend that are based in Asia, Africa or South America?

At the moment Fediverse is very much Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

Would be nice to get people from the rest of the world noticed on here!

And I forgot to mention the title of the longest-running in the world:

"Shake, Rattle, & Roll"

15 releases (original + 14 sequels) as of 2014.
