I am still stewing over yestreday.
The doctor never once got my name right and kept calling me Eric even after being corrected repeatedly.

When I mentioned that Zoom was a HIPAA violation, she said, "Well, Kaiser, you see, is a very big company filled with people who are more educated than you."

"
1) I called DSHS, a Federal Agency, to ask about this, and they had screaming red flags go up about this and said no, this is a violation. So did SSA.

and

2) I have a master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, with a focus on computer and network security in the public and private sectors.
"

"And you think you know more than our staff does, Eric?"

"I know which agencies to ask when I don't. Please recall I did contact DSHS about this and also called SSA about it."

"Continuing on..."

A rabbi was asked by one of his students “Why did God create atheists?” After a long pause, the rabbi finally responded with a soft but sincere voice. “God created atheists” he said, “to teach us the most important lesson of them all – the lesson of true compassion. You see, when an atheist performs an act of charity, visits someone who is sick, helps someone in need, and cares for the world, he is not doing so because of some religious teaching. He does not believe that God commanded him to perform this act. In fact, he does not believe in God at all, so his actions are based on his sense of morality. Look at the kindness he bestows on others simply because he feels it to be right. When someone reaches out to you for help. You should never say ‘I’ll pray that God will help you.’ Instead, for that moment, you should become an atheist – imagine there is no God who could help, and say ‘I will help you’.”

A rightwing Christian lobby group that wants abortion to be banned has forged ties with an adviser to the prime minister and is drawing up policy briefings for politicians.

The UK branch of the US-based Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) has been appointed a stakeholder in a parliamentary group on religious freedoms in a role that grants it direct access to MPs:

A busy, stressed person makes bad decisions.

I'll repeat.

Busy, stressed persons make fucked-up decisions.

This is a fundamental fact of human psychology.

Now, consider the business world, and corporations' demands upon every single worker.

Yeah.

When I was a kid no piece of plain paper or card was safe around me. I’d be drawing something all the time. I’ve realised I’ve missed that simple pleasure. I’m trying to draw more often, though it’s proving difficult to be motivated sometimes.

Anyway, last October I sketched what I could see of the top of a nearby telephone pole. In the past few weeks, the poles down the street have been adorned with fibre-optic equipment. I decided to draw a second version to show the changes.

Zhivko had heard about Iran’s IRGC, the Quds force, and the Basij militia, since he listens to the World Service. But what he learnt about these groups from the latest #TheGlobalJigsaw episode did more to satisfy his cat curiosity. And can you guess where the name “Axis of Resistance” comes from? Another brainy episode he’d totally recommend to all #CatsofMastodon on #caturday
