"Fire!", he said, as he dropped to the ground...

@bonifartius

You could toast them enough so that they're no longer reflective.

(Not sure if there are enough O2 molecules in LEO to do that though.)

@peterdrake

It's a problem everywhere, but particularly in old media like film and TV. I've written quite a bit about this here on qoto.

When it's subliminal, people get kind of brainwashed and then they perpetuate it unconsciously.

The way to stop it is to actually see it and made it conscious and then avoid content that is racist.

@icedquinn

The idea is that it is placed very close to your mouth (and it's directional). Also, a lot depends on the accoustics of the room.

Sounds like somebody's getting ready to do some serious game streaming...

@lupyuen

All the major news networks used to keep obit tapes ready to roll for notable celebrities and politicians. They’d be complete, edited video obituaries about the person’s life, and they’d update them periodically. Then if someone died, they could just pull the tape and go to air immediately with the story without having to gather stuff together and edit it.

I don’t know if they still do that now because the tools available today allow them to get something to air quickly just from their generic video libraries.

Here's how I rank COVID-19 information sources (from worst to best)

- Trump
- CDCP
- anybody else

@Acer

Abe Lincoln was asked how long a man's legs should be, and he answered, "Long enough to reach the ground."

So how far should a muzzle be razed?

Dislexia sucks...

What card?

Here is what your toot looks like in the local feed....

"...it’s a much better film THAN you’d expect."

"Than", not "then".

(Use "than" for comparison of grammatical objects that differ from one another, or to set aside something that is different. Use "then" to indicate temporal order -- that which comes next after something else.)

Retro SciFi of the Week…

Epoch (2001)

This is an independently produced film which I assume was done on a low budget, but as with last week’s film, it’s a much better film then you’d expect. It was released around the time of the 9/11 attacks, so there wasn’t much room available to create a lot buzz for it. Even so, when it aired on the SciFi Channel (SYFY) in November 2001, it drew the largest audience of any film on the channel to that date.

The movie is about an artifact that suddenly appears in Agua Dulce.

@gaurav

What is this? Nobody's going to go watch your video unless you say what it is.

@lupyuen

All of the computers in the US don't even use 1.7% of total US electricity consumption.

@autumn

Hopefully that's a new meme suggestion and not a personal disclosure.

@trinsec

Do you speak Russian? What exactly did he say? (I don't think NBC's translation is accurate.)

Here's what the Goggle translator says based on the audio:

"We have not lost anything and have not lost anything in terms of acquisition, I can say that the main acquisition is the strengthening of our sovereignty and this is an inevitable result of what is happening now Yes, of course, certain things are happening polarization But I believe both in the world and within the country I believe that this will only benefit because everything is not necessary harmful and everything that prevents us from moving forward will be rejected We will gain momentum for development because modern development can only be based on sovereignty all our steps in this direction aimed at strengthening sovereignty, I want to sneeze again, it often sounds, I see it, I want to emphasize this is absolutely correct thesis, we did not start anything from the point of view of military operations, and then only to finish military operations began in 2014 after the coup d'état on Ukraine for those who did not want normal peaceful development and sought to suppress his own people by conducting one military operation with another and subjected to genocide of people who lived in the Donbass for 8 years"
