You are more than 5,000 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than from a nuclear power plant accident.

>"Is it inconsistent for a company to claim it "takes your security seriously" when it limits the punctuation marks allowed in passwords?"

No. But if they require them, they're definitely clueless.

>"Via Euronews: Sperm count down: What you need to know about the male fertility crisis"

Hopefully we get down to zero and an actually intelligent species takes over.

@digital_carver @LouisIngenthron

Nice. Looks like something from 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it's real!

Twenty+ years late, but were back.

ALOI

This one takes us lightyears away
to a new land, for a bit of a stay.
They say it has a presence of mind,
signs of intelligence, the artificial kind.

Retro rockets, down to the Pale Blue Dot,
search throughout, but intelligence it has not.
Lots of product of artifice we sense
but just artificial lack of intelligence.

So the answer we send back home,
nothing here, no matter how much we comb.
Alrighty then, on to the next shore.
Sounds interesting, let’s hear more...

People who don't have common sense are a Paine.

@EubieDrew

Well you might start by following fewer people. Your following over 600 people. What the fuck?

Also, it's bad form to join a group and then immediately start complaining and wanted to change things. Try it out for a year or so and actually learn how to use it and then you can start making suggestions.

Today's message from old media...

"Be afraid. Look at all these scary things. Don't you feel anxious now? Good.

"We want you to feel fear so you are afraid to change anything. So if a revolution starts you will be so afraid of change that you will just keep this totally fucked up, shitty system that we have now rather take any risk whatsoever.

"(But keep coming to work and dying of Covid, so our sponsors can make lots of money.)"

@cyrilpedia

The healthcare industry in the US is perhaps the most regulated industry in the country, so yeah, pretty much the opposite of libertarian.

(Not that a free-market system would work either.)

How to write a toot.

The lyrics appear to be self-contradictory, so some of them must be satirical, but without any context, I'm not sure which are satirical and which are the literal point that the artists are trying to make.

Regarding the music itself, I'm sure if I was a half-century or so younger I might appreciate it more. :ablobgrin:

@jillianne

I don't have a gift basket, but here's a geeky toot I made on my one-month anniversary.

That's how respirators work to prevent you from getting infected with COVID-19, except in reverse (they attract the virus particles using static electricity)

Are you talking about the TV show or trigonometry?

@freemo @2ck @WhatYouMcCallit @tatzelbrumm

They are probably having difficulty getting people to come into the gym during the pandemic. Gyms aren't just about renting equipment, they're a social club. So they want folks to come in.

Next time they call and ask why you haven't come in, tell them that the last time you were there you got Covid. That should stop the calls.

@aworldinpages

Just depends...

Plastic Easter eggs for an Easter egg hunt? The more eggs the more the fun.

Trying to get pregnant? One is plenty.

Keeping a chicken locked up in a tiny cage for a whole day for each egg on your breakfast plate? There isn't enough karma in the world to balance that one out.
