I've used libib for cataloging my library and Good reads for tracking what I've read /am reading. I wouldn't mind it all being in one place (and not Amazon's), but... Enter 200 items for free, as many as you like for $10 (year) or $25 (life).

At some point I may take the time to try the free version, but it wouldn't get me very far.

What strange takes on Christ. I wonder what the source material is.

I stopped reading after one woman in Florida. This seems to be cherry picked hyper local stories, about one crime in Chicago, one weirdo in Florida, etc., rather than trends as the title indicates.

In other news, looking at trends, this is the best decade ever...

Interesting how one's perspective and how things are framed make it seem like the best of times or the worst of times

We’ve just had the best decade in human history. Seriously | Spectator USA

Let nobody tell you that the second decade of the 21st century has been a bad time. Extreme poverty has fallen below 10 percent of the world’s population

@timorl
It may be terrible, but it's what we've seen in the house of representatives. My understanding is that the republican senate is repulsed by this same thing in the Democrat house. Pelosi recently said they've been working to impeach the president for years, so this is neither about Ukraine nor impartiality.
@freemo

@freemo
Nor is there a law that the senate majority leader must be impartial (which is to say nonhuman).

I'm just speaking of the optics, not the legality.

I do think they're playing the role of swamp dwellers well. This is exactly the confirmation Trump would wish for after calling them the swamp. To hold purely partisan vote after saying a partisan vote would not be okay. To rush it through in time for a 2020 candidate debate, then put it on hold indefinitely.

Even the fact that they didn't list any crime in the impeachment, makes it look like they're simply using all of their power to overturn one election and help their candidates in the next election.

Just a reminder, the house vote on impeachment wasnt even supported by all democrats. 2 democrats voted against it and all republicans voted against it. They couldnt even get support from democrats and they knew damn well they couldnt get support for 2/3 of the senate.

I hate trump and want him out of office as much as anyone, but the impeachment caused me to loose all respect for democrats.

It looks more like a desperate attempt to manipulate the 2020 election and win, rather than any real attempt at impeachment. Sad thing is they probably hurt their cause more than helped. I know I have lost what little respect for the democrats I had despite my hatred of trump.

@freemo
No one is impartial. Let alone a partisan majority leader.

There's not a direct disagreement here. A basic human need is not the same as a human right.

Of course, it's a loaded discussion. What does it mean to have a Right?

@shibaprasad
I don't have anything regularly for that. I am adding some weights, but am experimenting right now with a few options.

@shibaprasad

I started by walking a 5k every day. I'd jog a little and walk a lot. I started going further once per week, and started jogging more than walking. By the time I got up to 7 miles /11km, I was only jogging /running, no walking. At that point I pulled up the Hal Higdon marathon training plan linked here. 4 runs per week : short /medium /short /long.

I went up to 17+ miles then cut back and am basically doing 4 runs per week, about 5k/10k/5k/rest/half marathon/rest/rest. With warm up/cool down its 4/7/4/14 miles.

I think I'll add one more mile to my medium just to round out to 30 miles per week.

Well, the magazine got a lot of free media. I doubt it will change anyone's mind on this issue.

Another half marathon distance run this morning (14+ miles total). That's 6 in the last 7 weeks. Feeling pretty good considering I couldn't jog a 5k 3 or 4 months ago.

Most of these half marathon runs have been in sub freezing temporatures. Not sure if that makes them easier or harder. Certainly seemed easier when I went from Colorado to sea level for one of them.

From the Washington Post :
A day after the House voted to impeach Trump, Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced she would refrain from transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate...

I like that you said Belief System, which everyone has, whether they (or you) describe themselves as Religious.

I think the question also comes down to : what do you mean by "science" that one can reject? Does it mean methods, popular opinion on conclusions (consensus) or simple a competing Belief System?
