@ujcmtgs4n4jqza It's going... well, I'm improving, but I've only recently started (like 6 months ago) both with singing and banjo playing. This quarantine surely is helping me, I have more time to practice.
Do you play any music?
@ujcmtgs4n4jqza I used thick cork panels, some foam material and also I packed everything in the closet very very tight, adding a lot of clothes and stuff, so now I got more free space in other rooms and I have done test with recording devices around the house, sound stays mostly in.
Thanks, I am actually thinking of starting to share stuff... even if I'm not good, just as an excuse to practice and get better.
It's one of the advantages of not knowing anyone in person here!
I started taking #singing lessons a while ago. Now I'm home, I can't really take lessons, and I have to practice... but all my neighbours are home as well, of course, and I am shy.
So I thought well, I should take this as an opportunity. I shouldn't be ashamed of my skills, and anyway it's my house so I can do as I please.
So I proceeded to soundproof the built-in closet.
@galacticstone what happened in November 2016?
@Thenewsspan 23 tonnes for 45 people? Isn't it a bit of an overkill?
@crackurbones I was always so fascinated about Mongolia... hope to get there one day
@Capitancuk un po' vaga ancora, però il fatto che sia open source e non obbligatoria tutto sommato non la rende malvagia... a meno che non mi sia perso qualcosa
@CptnBeef20 welcome!
I'd like to publicly thank #QOTO for its #nextcloud service.
Since the university went into lockdown, the need of passing material between students has become a serious issue.
Using wetransfer and such, with links that died out after a week, and were for one file at a time and difficult to organize, was a mess.
Google drive gave problems to everyone, was difficult to coordinate, kept asking for changing password and was difficult to share with someone a file if he didn't have access. Beside that, it was limited to 15 GB, and now that also video lessons and notes are being uploaded, that wasn't enough.
With nextcloud we are managing to keep over 3 years of Natural Sciences university students coordinated with the study material, notes, and slides.
We are heavy on the server right now, around 25 GB and counting every day, but when the lockdown will finish I'll try my best to make us light again.
Meanwhile, thanks #QOTO !
covid-19 science, overwhelmed
@dantheclamman I envy them a bit... I mean, they have such a nice puzzle to solve, as I understand they could be in a moment of revisiting a lot of what we knew about epidemiology, virology, and even medical evidence.
Meanwhile yeah, I'm at home making ecological models for fungi, not a lot of pressure on us=D
@toad
Ah ecco perché transmission non seedava pure quando vedevo i video... non capivo, pensavo fosse un problema mio
@peertube @filippodb
@design_RG gosh I'd so go for a bicycle ride rn... beautiful pics!
@stux Just would like to say something in favour of social sciences, especially psychology... they are fairly young, and are reassessing their methods a lot in the past 20-30 years. The simple fact that they are (often) owning up to their replication crises puts them on the correct track.
Also, they deal with very, very complex systems with a lot of variables. They have a long way to go, but I for one really like many psychology research and I think they may help us a great deal.
Same goes for economy, which is one of the most mature of all, linguistics and demography, off the top of my head
