@spinflip I hear you, I also sometime feel that it may not be the best thing... but as you say, is a starting point to gather people, we'll see what comes after =)
@Blackmonk We are not really going to solve problems, is not that binary. This is not an idealized all-or-nothing, we are facing real, concrete problems, and something is better than nothing.
I don't see a need to love each other, I can live with some people agreeing on a line of action. And anyway, I don't want to love everyone, respecting each other is hard enough already.
If you plant a forest with a few friends, the bees and wildlife and soil life and water table will not care much about how you people feel about each other. Is not all about us. IMO.
@spinflip A warm welcome! I did quite some chemistry exams in my career, and I'm very happy to have more scientists aboard from different fields to learn from.
Seems like qoto is going in the right direction.
@Blackmonk Taking all the problems together is not helping, really, unless the point is to rant about how the world is going bad, IMO.
In any case, if you feel bad about something, don't get depressed and try to find an enjoyable way to help solve them instead.
I personally consider environmental issues more pressing than anything as without water, air and food we are all doomed, and I am not fond of how we are dragging the whole biosphere with us.
But hey, those are just my opinions.
If I can give you some humble help with what's troubling you I'd be happy to do it =)
@Blackmonk Very complicated question. A good start is not to go into depression, don't feel too bad about the environmental problems we are facing, and get your hands on some actual action.
The action in itself depends highly on your background skills and knowledge, there is no universal answer here.
Brief little self-introduction
@4of92000
Welcome here,
I have quite a few accounts in different instances, so I think is not a problem... well, I hope so!
@gaurav
Welcome, what kind of films do you make?
Hope to see something of yours =)
@pwgallagher
Well, makes a lot of sense, I'll try to scrape the time to read her.
Thanks!
@kylerkandler
Nope
@Nsycan
I use fdroid but mastalab should be on play store too
@Sci I feel you, it sucks when honest questions are turned into a sterile rethorical battlefield (especially with such arguments).
If you have questions about climate change I'd be curious to hear them here, though!
@born_VICTOR Welcome here, I am very pleased to see more scientists joining =) Hope you'll have a good time
@Sci Wait, why would a not religious person try to legitimise Noah's Ark? How did you get there?
Want to start your own Mastodon instance but don't want to do the technical stuff?
@astheroth@niu.moe
It is a python-based single user instance. It's still in its early stage, but I really like the minimalistic idea behind it and in September there should be a first stable release.
The website is https://microblog.pub/ , which is itself a microblog instance, and is mantained by @t (aka @dev)
Check out the git: https://github.com/tsileo/microblog.pub
