* Why the World can be a Better Place with MarkDown ?

...just see my fresh new post. Here in the Discourse Forum for now, but it's practically ready for a Write.Freely blog post.

Mastodon cannot even come close to displaying content that well, sadly. Friendica can though.

And -- my favourite platform, the elegant and fast Write.Freely blog I love.

Forum thread here : discourse.qoto.org/t/superb-th

Thank you to Tom, @emuz for all his work at his instance -- Recommended by this

@claudiom@mastodon.sdf.org Oooh -- so you are running it in Vintage, original hardware!

I am double impressed now. Wow! Well done, great work.

There's so many great pieces of Software at Archive.org, including full operating systems. And we have zillions of spare, idled machines which could still happily run a period correct O.S.

I am a great lover of Bicycles and specially Vintage ones, I should get more into reviving the many Vintage computers I have here; even a gorgeous PS/2 server tower, which comes apart without any tools. Some great design to be appreciated..

Following you, will like to see how this and other projects go. Cheers!

Love to see someone using the fantastice BeOS -- I remember, when it came out I was very active on the OS/2 op system support groups.

Thanks for the post, @claudiom@mastodon.sdf.org

@realcaseyrollins

Wonderful to hear and a glowing endorsement to Tom, admin there.

HIGHLY recommend this -- an Interactive tutorial that is really wonderful -- I learned it there and fully endorse it.

@rgx

@rgx @design_RG It's really nice! So nice, in fact, that I've used it as a backup for my SFW account over at mstdn.social! I would like to make it my main, but the speech rules do seem a bit more stringent there than on mstdn.social.

Playing with the #Markdown in particular has been a pleasure.

Thanks - - I didn't know the account, added it now.

I made a post this past Friday, on the hashtag, and even started a new one or Felines Follow Friday.

Will update on my records and add this nice new one next week, thank you! I get lots of Boosts and Favourite notifications, plus new followers, everytime I do a posting run. 😺

@freemo Well done, very good.

And excellent work on implementing that feature, new in non-Japanese instances (in Nippon they created that for Misskey).

I was honoured that you pursued this feature to serve my own nomad lifestyle, lol, but I need the real thing, to join and post as a Local in any instance I am interested it is my modus-operandi.

Thanks to the power and flexibility of the great Pinafore client for Fediverse instances, each of my current 11 or so are ONE click away; I do keep various tabs of Pinafore open, with the most frequently used instances loaded in each.

As I have stated and explained before, this is a personal choice, for a inquiring mind and mid to advanced level users. Not for the average user, who is better served by locating one good instance and staying with it.

Qoto.org has Many good things, and that is the reason I volunteer and put many hours and thousands of posts here.

But that's only one side of me; and I have interests that make having various accounts desirable; and I act on them, as you know.

This morning I am connected and actively communicating from 3 instances atm; each with a focus and local feature set that makes it interesting and useful.

But the feature you are referring to, and which got endorsed by a well created poll, is not an important one for me (reasons stated above).

Getting a better software instance is Number one -- I am moving to Glitch-Social as much as possible. Pleroma awaits a thorough evaluation, which I plan to publish in my Blog.

Enhanced text formatting is so satisfying that I dread anytime I post something significant -- like this very post, which I will use as part of a Blog, real soon -- in an instance which doesn't off me that.

I remain a user here, but Nomad is my heart.

> How do you have the time to be on so many instances? LOL

LOL.... I could flip that right back at you, also a never ceasing like me. 😜

Truth is, we can't really be active on more than a couple, but there's a use for more of them -- even if for casual use.

I wrote a blog page 6 months ago which I still find very relevant, and plan for a new page sometime soon -- since I have joined a few new communities recently, and have a new campaign, or Else!

Plus my usual, active and opinionated, Cat Friendly and STEM Lord account at Qoto.org. 😉

I am working on things all day, it's more than a Full Time job for me; no pay at all, but great satisfaction with the pages I create on my blogs (2 of them active, more to come), my Fediverse Reporting activity, etc.

Good that I have the time to do it, for the communities I am involved and for myself. I just described this, my amateur writing and journalism ongoing apprenticeship, to a friend who complained I sounded annoyed when she called (a phone call!!) when I was in mid flight, new page in development... 😉

And if you know me, you know I am a free thinker and a curious Traveller in this of ours.

Just joined a new community -- the Mastodon instance for the Write.as company, who are the developers of my beloved Write.Freely blog platform.

I wanted to be close to them (already been a member on their Forums for months), so I can see new ideas, comment and suggest my own, be an active contributor to what for me is a GREAT project.

write.as/

and the free open source site at writefreely.org/

Big thank you to Matt, @matt , the project leader - great work, friend.

I will be signing in as @rgx@writing.exchange there.

@zleap Thanks Paul!!

Yes, that is VERY meaningful -- and it's confirmed by seeing the stellar rating of New Zealand's government, one of the best handled countries during this pandemic.

Would be curious to see where Brazil stands in this -- sadly the country is under really BAD federal management. An idiotic man, who models himself on the current White House occupant, and is more interested in dissent and internal conflict and his chances on a 2022 election there than with the people's health and the pandemic impact.

I have friends living there, and I follow the news. Bad. I despair from reading pretty quickly.

Folha de São Paulo is an important and distinguished national circulation newspaper there - I would equate it to the NY Times in terms of importance to the local journalism.

They have an English page, with translated articles here : www1.folha.uol.com.br/internac

Brazil was for a time even above the UK in GDP, but has descended from that, after years of turmoil and economic malaise. Below a snapshot of their current English headline, top of the page linked above.

Why we are always open to new aspiring leadership -- staff volunteers here at Qoto.org ...

...'cause, lots to do.

Talent always wanted and volunteers appreciated.

Desired Features for new staff?

* ACTIVE participants in our community.
* Well polished in written communications.
* Foreign languages are a nice Bonus, so we could serve more people in their native tongue(s).
* Knowledgeable, yet humble in interactions with others.

Which in my personal view are all great qualities in a human being.

See my personal views in great detail on my November reflections, before I was nominated for a staff position here.

-->> bonus cheque ? 💼 😜

All orange cats are tabbies. Even if their stripes are faint, they’re there. So, while all orange cats are tabbies, not every tabby is orange. A Calico with tabby stripes is known as a Tabico or Calliby.

Let's see some cute…
