@Pat yea but in python its the only place where multithreading means you cant utilize multiple cpus... so multiprocess becomes needed

There is no strict requirement on time.. In whatever role you take you donate the time you have and want when you can.

The mastodon server itself is mostly written in ruby. Our other services dont get developed directly but there are system admin needs for managing the network.

@trinsec @derickflorian Yea it hasnt worked right for a bit, it broke when we introduced markdown it seemed. But I have a fix for it I just havent released it.

Plenty of ways to support us. You can donate through a few avenues (crypto is easiest for most but we have other options).. And of course we are always looking for contributors either from a moderator standpoint or developers.

@peterdrake To be fair the exotic nature of the ingredients dont make a recipe any harder to do.Bread with 3 simple common ingredients is probably harder to do than a pasta sauce with 15 ingredients :)

When people say a language doesnt scale well what they really mean is that in order to get it to scale well they have to do too much work... which in ruby's case might be fair (its a matter of debate)... but no one language is good for everyone. I wouldnt use C as a language that scales well either out of the box
