Yea. Though to be fair I do suspect liberals less often open-carry. But still its an obnoxious assumption for sure.

I generally would describe myself as left of center, but close to center. So not sure if that counts as a "liberal", but im certainly no conservative.

Free speech is a bit hairy.. In terms of legal free speech both sides seem to more or less support it.

When it comes to private speech people dont like and it is still legal to censor it without violating free speech then both sides seem to be ok censoring it when it aligns with their views.

I meant he right is also the side that bans books for example.

As someone who almost always open-carries guns I must say, the one thing I dont like is how certain people assume your a republican or pro-trump when they see it. Today I had an experience with a tow truck driver who was overtly racist the whole ride home and I suspect its because he saw my gun and made some assumptions.

Pro-guns is probably the only topic where I align with the right at all really.

While some people certainly are as you describe it, they are thr minority of people who hold these views in my expierence.

This is just the lie and narrative people say so often the left has bought it. And the right has likewise bought similar lies about the left

Incorrect. There were laws that required people to wear masks in public in most states, which is what they objected to. There were similarly requirements to be vaccinated for government employment, which again was considered a violation.

Almost no one was trying to ban voluntary vaccinations or mask wearing.
