The Song of the Wondering Aengus

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And someone called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done,
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

-- W.B. Yeats

This poem really resonated with me. I think its because as a kid I would constantly dream of this magical woman who lived in my basement and when I woke up I could never find her.

Interesting fact of the day. According to current understanding it is believed that the majority of planets in the Milky way are Rogue planets (do not orbit a star).

In fact of all the planets in our Milky Way it is thought at least 55% of them are rogue planets.

Because we can only observe Jupiter sized or larger rogue planets, giving us that figure, it is likely there are quite a few more than this which are smaller. Though it also depends on how we define planet since typically it depends on the nature of its orbit whether it is called a planet or a moon.

With that said I think this also highlights the error in the redefinition of the word planet which caused Pluto to be demoted. It was a day of bad science as it creates issues with this sort of language. the older definition of planet I still feel would be more useful and fitting and would allow for smoother communication in these scenarios.

I miss the CD caddy type CD drives.. really sad they went out of existance. They made so much sense for protecting and storing CDs...

I'd like to publicly thank for its service.

Since the university went into lockdown, the need of passing material between students has become a serious issue.
Using wetransfer and such, with links that died out after a week, and were for one file at a time and difficult to organize, was a mess.

Google drive gave problems to everyone, was difficult to coordinate, kept asking for changing password and was difficult to share with someone a file if he didn't have access. Beside that, it was limited to 15 GB, and now that also video lessons and notes are being uploaded, that wasn't enough.

With nextcloud we are managing to keep over 3 years of Natural Sciences university students coordinated with the study material, notes, and slides.

We are heavy on the server right now, around 25 GB and counting every day, but when the lockdown will finish I'll try my best to make us light again.

Meanwhile, thanks !

I decided to start publishing me playing some stuff on my peertube channel, as a way to motivate me to get better and get over my shyness...
I'm not very good, but whatever, you gotta start somewhere. Hopefully with time I'll look back and laugh at the goofy attempts =D

This is the first song. From now on I'll just boost my peertube status with every video

Never saw a Mag-loop style antenna used on a handie-talkie before, but I really dig it! I may need to try this!

LOL so apparently I just noticed in one of the episodes of Star Trek Enterprise they tried to use one of those Radio Shack 100 in 1 electronics kits as an actual engineering prop. Never picked this up before but omg the lawls.

Also attached a picture of the actual retail device (technically marketed as 500 in 1)

A woman isnt considered famous until you can find her feet pics on the internet with a google search. That's true fame.

I recently acquired a book written by my 4th great-uncle Samuel Freeman in 1814. My collection of historic artifacts related to my family tree is growing :)

So apparently an american farmer (no surprise) is using explosives, along with a high powered rifle to take care of his Hog problem... Most american thing I've seen all day, sad to watch.. be cautious, only watch if you can stomach it...
