@kino

In my mind BLM isnt really something to mock overall. Its an important voice.

But as I said in their mocking they did manage to reveal a disurbing thread of group think that ultimately makes them easy to manipulate as a group. And its not really even a BLM specific thing, its activists as a whole right now.

@timorl

I think 4chan is a shit hole and do not in any way approve of them mocking BLM or the movement.

The reason I share this however is to point out the generally harmful group think of people being activists right now, to the extent it is hurting the movement.

4chan consistently has success in these matters. Right now its Bald for BLM which seems to be catching on, and not that long ago they managed to trick everyone into thinking the OK hand gesture was a white supremacist hand gesture and even managed to get it on a list of hate speech.

When 4chan is this successful at manipulating people simply by making something look popular, when that is the only criteria for success, its time to reevaluate the underlying mentality driving our activism.

That could possible complement my usual New User welcome message with important Guides links -- for someone who wants to understand what this new place is.

I loved the Guide on the first link, and it's still current and awesome 3 years after publishing.

Hello, and welcome to Qoto.

Enjoy the network and all it has to offer. If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu

We also have another new users guide, posted here : write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggesti

Casey Rollins made a video to explain the Fediverse, here :

All local QOTO users, please take a minute to answer this poll, it would be important for us moderators

QOTO Announcements & Polls
This is an important poll that would help the moderators here make some decisions about the future of QOTO. Please take the time to answer honestly...
@design_RG Eugen is your BDFL if you want to keep using Fediverse+ I mean Mastodon, then you had better get used to it.
@freemo I think your 'switch to pleroma' idea sounds pretty good.
@zleap Idk why but the archetypal Mastodon user is obsessed with getting this feature even though they want mastodon to be a twitter clone even though they don't like actual twitter.

As of today the delete account feature has been re-enabled on . You no longer need to email a moderator to have your account deleted.

As some of you know we had previously removed this account because many users complained when they could not recover their account later. Since this feature provides ample warning we feel that mistake is on the user and ultimately this is overall a good decision.

Please be careful when using this feature and be aware of the consequences.

@design_RG @freemo
Well this is on my personal blog, to add context, I am posting about various topics e.g freecodecamp or code club and saying I am happy to be contacted here on Mastodon.

This is due out Tuesday, hence scheduled

Always happy to thoughtful and respectful consideration of ideas is the cornerstone of qoto. We are a place for discussion, debate, and ultimately changing our minds and learning. This isnt a place for preaching and i love that about qoto too, its why i created it.

@design_RG

Why is it i have yet to meet a single decent human being who are in antifa. Dont get me wrong i know of plenty of anti-fascists who are amazing. But someone in an antifa group, who adopts the logo, the outfit, the principles
.. not one

America is fucking doomed because the rioters and protesters would rather fight with the few potential allies thry have than actually unify against the problem... Hail oir glorious leader trump at this point because justice isnt on the table apparently just violence.

the business cards I hand out has an NFC chip in it that has all my contact info programmed into it. I love that feature.

Remember that time a known rapist was given the Clinton global Citizens Award... good times.

@2ck Well I have something like 150+ projects on my github. So it would be a pretty big list to compile every project I own of any kind. So let me just list some of the more popular ones.

Aparapi (Java) - it reverse engineers java byte code at execution and rewrites it into a C-like language (C99) so that it can run on GPUs

Aethyr (Ruby) - A text based mud MMORPG. It runs through telnet so no client needed but runs as a ncurses stream so you get windows and and similar ncurses features

Goblin OGM (Python) - An Object Graph Mapper, basically its a way of maping python Objects to graph databases for an OO approach to working with them. It is similar to ORMs used on traditional databases in concept.

AIOGremlin (Python) - A wrapper around Gremlin, a Graph Database driver. It adds Asynchronous IO

ROES (Hardware/C/Assembly) - Stands for Rediculously Over Engineers SWR meter. Its a Atmel based SWR meter that has some of the functionalities of a Network Analyzer as well. Analyzes the properties of antennas in real time.

Ferma (Java) - A similar project as Goblin OGM above but this time for Java

Some fitting music for the riots:

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around.

Blind man running
Through the light
Of the night
With an answer in his hand,
Come on down
To the river of sight
And you can really understand,..

-- Neil Young, Don't let it bring you down.

So I realized I'm the project owner for popular open-surce apps in most of the majoy languages: Java, Python, Ruby, C/C++, even a little assembly in some of ot. I feel like I need to attempt a proper project in a functional language though.

Damn the rioters are burning down the LA amazon distribution center.. These guys arent fucking around!

@freemo ok, but the batteries are already on modular PCBs and they already connect to the motherboards using molex picolock connectors (groups of 4 cells each), so you could just do that modification you want, actually. we had these pouch cells in Reform 1, i'm very familiar with them, and we dropped them because there are no standard sizes and they are not trivial to connect. you have to use point welding or stamp holes and screw to a terminal. you also would need custom fixtures for them.
