I like my open-minded friends.
It make me laugh when they are ready to take a fight to defend the women's right to choose what to do with their bodies, or empathize with the difficulties of someone from a different ethnicity, but are ready to punch you in the fucking face for putting pineapple on a pizza

This started as a question but I've realized it is actually more of an ...

I'm locked into my current job for the next ten years approximately it has an interesting mix of System Admin (Mostly windows with some security aspects), Help Desk, and Networking.

With that being said I'm interested in contributing to and projects as I tend to use them where I can.

Also, I'm hoping that this could help to build somewhat of a portfolio to align with my long term goal to prepare towards a , , or job in the future.

My hobbies usually bounce around the tech realm as I like to tinker and learn new things. If anyone has any recommendations on how to best focus my efforts in regards to helping with projects I'm all ears. I'm especially interested to know what languages/contribution aspects the masses would recommend. Currently I have only dabbled on Python and limited Powershell and Bash scripting but I'm open to learning new languages (Programming and actual).

Random fact/caveat if you reply back in another language I'll try to use a translator but I apologize in advance if something gets lost in translation. One of the few things we have going for us in 2020 is that language can be less of a barrier with tech!

@freemo
Nextdoor, at I understand it, is social media for all the neighbors you hope you never have to interact with.

@freemo Communities are started by the local Karen, who rules it as their personal fiefdom.

Wow the moderation on Nextdoor is even worse than Facebook.. how is this possible.

I'm pretty sure all liberals are really just three toddlers standing on each other's shoulders in a trench coat at this point.

Meanwhile conservatives are all the racist old coots from nursing homes in face masks.

Lets cover some facts here about masks that should cause most of you to reconsider wearing masks, it is likely helping to spread this disease more than its helping.

First lets look at the WHO which does not recommend people wear masks except under certain situations, but not all the time by the general public. Here is a PDF that outlines that recommendation and a quote:

"At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence"

who.int/publications/i/item/ad

Next lets take a moment to look states hit hardest by the recent resurgence of new cases. You will find in virtually all states that mask ordinances were put into place **before** the resurgance and people didnt start seriously pushing mask wearing until right before the resurgence kicked off.

Take florida as an example, one of the earliest and worst hit by the resurgence. 19 counties and 64 cities in florida all had mask laws in place and were enforced, the vast majority of which was prior to relapse.

Then there is the comparison to Europe I already mentioned. As someone who lives half the time in Europe and half here in South Philly I can tell you almost everyone here has been pretty strict with mask wearing where in Europe you almost never see a single person wearing a mask through the entire epidemic. Because of this you will see most of Europe beat COVID rather quickly and with really positive results while the USA is still struggling.

Finally it is really just common sense when you think about it. If you use a tissue to cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough you throw it away after. But wearing a mask all day is much worse. Not only does the mask become infected and you wind up carrying it everywhere with you, sometimes for multiple days at a time, but not a single person uses it like a surgeon is required to.

For example consider the ubiquitous example of people wearing masks all day and occasionally taking a sip of water. Almost everyone is going to take their mask, pull it down below their chin, take a sip of water, and then pull it back up. Your chin is exposed all day long, when you do this the inside of your mask becomes infected and then it is placed directly over your mouth for hours. So anyone using a mask for any extended period of time is almost garunteed to get infected through misuse, or even just touching or adjusting your mask. Combine this with the fact that it adds a false sense of safety so the actually effective tactics like washing your hands, not touching your face, keeping 6 feet distance, are less likely to be observed with someone wearing a mask and well, the end result is this virus is going to spread like wildfire, much worse than without masks at all.

As Pratchett said,
“Scientists have calculated that the chances of something so patently absurd actually existing are millions to one.
But magicians have calculated that million-to-one chances crop up nine times out of ten.”
I think it's from Equal Rites?

Its a 1 in a 1,000,000 chance you will get hit by a meteor in your lifetime. Even less likely it will happen today.

So, what is the chance that at some point today something, anything, will happen to you that has a 1 in a 1,000,000 chance of happening or more? In other words, how often does a day go by where something nearly impossible happens... well, the answer is it is pretty much guaranteed.

In fact every moment you are experiencing countless events that have a one in a million chance or more of happening. Try and wrap your head around that :)

So apparently Joe Biden was pro-segregation in the 70's and said he wanted to keep black kids out of white schools because he didnt want his kids to grow up in a "Racial Jungle".

People are really going to support this lunatic?
