@lazzarello I was waiting for this. Google has declared 'code red' for the chat AI. I guess that means they can't throw in ads with search any more.
@atomicpoet Soooo, Mastodon Chat System?

@Benji @JonKramer If you seal the house, then you can get a natural 40% in the winter, which is good. Above that, the windows rain.
'Wind tunnel' was my term for a leaky house, which can go below 20%, which is bad.
@Benji @JonKramer Get the huge generic rolls and tape. Crack open a window in the furnace room. The chimney effect puts in a big pressure difference.
@Benji @JonKramer Ok, we'll just laugh at you when you want a glass of water. :)
@Benji @JonKramer For the old windows, I used to use that 3M shrink plastic over the frames. Then you can just peel it away in the Spring.
#weather #physics I've been waiting for this. The extreme cold is 10 times worse because of climate change. They are using the 'dancing jet stream' as the villian. I totally believe that (so the Dr. doesn't get blocked).
If we want to go into physics, you can look up on WikiP that the jet stream is passive to hot and cold zones. It's like a shadow, and cannot move air particles. It is just a continuous roll, like a thunderstorm, except there is a slight vector westward on the descending air. This can be 'sailed' by jet planes. Please don't think about physics, it keeps you up at night.
@JonKramer Sorry, you are doomed. :)
@Benji @JonKramer Yes, that is the natural humidity if you live in a wind tunnel. At the minimum have a steamer on at night, or you are a covid magnet. We, in Canada, usually have sealed windows. In fact, the new super houses need an energy air exchanger to stop the windows from raining.
@grudgecat Don't go for the light!
@TheStrugglingScientists Only when it is on the first page....
@pieist My dog is the same. Shoop, back right between the legs!
@JonKramer 19% inside humidity is bad. Usually caused by leaky windows. Once I got all the windows replaced with fancy thermal casements, I didn't need a humidifier. Showers and the dishwasher are sufficient. Good luck.
#weather Toronto as the snow starts. I like looking at this stage because I keep saying "Yeah, I don't have to shovel yet!"
@idropyou Yes I think that's the current climate change projection for next year. :)
Descended from Unix freaks, I evolved to Linux. Some people might consider me old at 60+, but I'm suing the world to get my age down to 30.
I have a blog https://ontario-geofish.blogspot.com/
and it is read by 8 people. My formal education is in an extinct branch of science called geophysics. Since there was no money in it, I went to engineering. I've done tunnels, radwaste thingies, etc.
