@freemo The big monopoly can be doctors. The Canada system had the toughest time breaking that. Those who weren't happy went to the States. Now the US has a monopoly of doctors and lawyers. Combined, they jack up the price of drugs by a huge amount, to deal with liability claims. The drugs are cheaper in Canada because of the legal system. That said, many clinics for specialized service (colonoscopy) are private and charge the health care system less than hospitals. And you can hop onto the big stick faster....
**when you are old, things munch on you** This are warts, pure and simple. If you work on one, then you see classic wart seeds, evenly spaced apart. These are colonies of viruses. I slowly scrape them with a fingernail, but it has to rough and sharp. A little scraping will bring in oxygen, and a bit of blood. Then put Polysporin on it, for the slight pain.
It can take weeks, but they are gone, and their friends will find another spot. I also use Tea Tree Oil, which is the old man's friend. You can scrape them with a drop of this oil, works quite well.
ps. Turk is exactly the same as the Christchurch NZ earthquakes. That was a basin sinking with jagged faults. You can expect more as it fills out the whole basin. The main lesson there was that a building may look fine, but it collapses with the next smaller earthquake. That's why you should always have accelerometers to see if the building has softened.
#physics #earthquake **Latest Turk M6+ shows its fault zone** You can see how much smaller an M6 is to near M8's. However, the aftershocks are a straight line. If the rift walls are rigid, then we'll get another one off to the right. Probably in a week or two, and then it should tail off.
#physics **Limits to hypersonic missiles** Travelling at M9, they have to put on the brakes to get a target lock.
However, the missile may be 'vaporware'.
@pieist Yeah, well behaved mice. But there's always Crazy Uncle Harry...
@Paulos_the_fog toronto, canada We have a wonderful monopoly Bell Canada, that can put a billion dollars into this, and extract blood from a stone.
@pieist Don't forget that they paint a big sign on the hole they chewed.
@pieist Ha, we have a 'law' that you can only move animals 1km away. With rabbits and possums, that's about 2 days before return.
Anyway, nobody ever has 1 mouse. If you find a mouse, there are many more.
@pwinn Neat.
@Paulos_the_fog Ha, I've got fiber direct to the home, and 1gig down and up. I'm now getting 1.4gig for cheaper, and they have 8. I'm going to try and persuade them to let me have the 8, so I can blog about it, with my popular influencer bit. Perhaps my 8 readers will find it amusing.
Anyway, it becomes useful with Linux where I am always downloading updates. The main internet is finally catching up to 1gig, on everything -- torrents and downloads. 8gig will be faster than my internal ethernet. How will I upgrade that? :)
@TheOldGuy They're getting into the dregs. My theory is that they can never launch the old Soviet nuclear missiles because people took out all the gold circuit boards a long time ago... Good 60's technology.
Descended from Unix freaks, I evolved to Linux. Some people might consider me old at 60+, but I'm suing the world to get my age down to 30.
I have a blog https://ontario-geofish.blogspot.com/
and it is read by 8 people. My formal education is in an extinct branch of science called geophysics. Since there was no money in it, I went to engineering. I've done tunnels, radwaste thingies, etc.
