@darthvader there is. In the input box for post, you will see a little globe. There is a direct message option there. And then you tag, just like we are doing here, and type your message. It will only go to who you tagged.

@collectedoverspread You could add domain to your home, of other local timelines. Or use FediLab, and just use another instance's timeline in the form of a list. You can add another server to a list in your settings as well.
