@TheOldGuy is anything anyone's? Doesn't really matter, its who has the power to hold it. Russia annexed it in 2014 and they will not give it up, too strategic. Ukraine coupe'd soon after, and they have been holding. They have no power to take Crimea, the only reason they havent surrendederd is because we have prolonged it with weapons and equipment. Once Russia deploys there 2nd wave in a few months of 275,000, the war is over. Ukraine is deep into its reserve troops, Russia won't even need to go to the lengths Ukraine has for more troops.
I have no skin in this game, just making an emotion free observation, that to me seems obvious.
@TheOldGuy so your opinion is push him to the edge, because he won't start a nuclear war? You can only be pushed so far.
Doesn't matter. Ukraine cannot take Crimea, they won't even hold in their own occupied territory. The only way for them to take Crimea is with direct assistance from the US and troops. That would take an act of congress. Won't happen, Americans aren't sold. The only chance of it getting thru Congress is getting America citizen support, the only chance of getting Americans support is a massive escalation like a tactical nuke, the only way to get Putin to use a tactical nuke is to keep pushing him more and more and more, wanting more, taking more like Crimea. Even the US won't push him that far. Crimea is off the table and a pipe dream.
@TheOldGuy no offense, but that may be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. No one wins in a 2+ party nuclear war. We all die (for the most part)
You can always reply to my posts safely; I almost never take contrary replies as hostile, even in politics. Most non-trolls are sincerely struggling to operate in good faith.
@daphsci They could have made a deal in return for some alternate concessions. But democrats by an large in the populace wouldn't be able to handle the simple fact that they voted for a republican, and it could be used against them in the future, which they wouldn't risk.
@EubieDrew I don't post a lot. I don't even reply a lot, really. Most things that I would reply, people would take as me being hostile, so I try and refrain @europrobe
@EubieDrew That was my initial thought, somewhat. Seems like more though, because I know a lot of extroverts that don't post a lot, and post only specific things , not always often @europrobe
@europrobe That could be. Maybe you are just shy? I think that's a different discussion though - people's proclivity to post.
@europrobe People find different things interesting and other things pointless, depending on perspective. There could be an argument made that anything posted is pointless, or even a meta like post, posting about pointlessness of posts, is itself, pointless.
@TheOldGuy Headline should be "The case for starting a global nuclear war"
@lucifargundam They other guys that worked there before I did were also surprised, and said theirs was much easier. We had just been acquired by a large German company though, so maybe that was just one of their policies.
@peterdrake Thanks. Maybe gotta restart my browser, cuz it isn't working, I assumed you didn't add one, but trying now still nothing.
@jasonetheridge you're our ally. You buy our weapons or else we will make an enemy for you and then you will buy them at a higher price, since we had to spend money to make you an enemy :/
@peterdrake what movie is that. Just from that clip I want to watch it
@lucifargundam I had to an extensive background check with my last employer, as they are a gov't contractor, and it took 9 weeks. Never seen anything like it. They also wanted tax returns (this was 2020) dating back to 2015, as well as every paystub in that 5 years. Never seen anything like it.
US Politics, birdsite
@ceoln Yeah, while fun, spending time making fun of people is probably a waste. The pushback is often just fuel to people.
@slider7420 @kayvee2262@c.im just drove over that this weekend coming back from Gettysburg. How many of those cool arched bridges are there? And what is that white statue of liberty thing I saw in the middle of it?
pronounced (Obi) oh-bye. I like logic.
