Se vuoi una cosa più figa ti prendi un tubicino di metallo più piccolo della matita, ci fai un filetto ad una estremità e poi la tagli a metà con un seghetto
Apri le estremità in modo da farci entrare la matita e poi lo chiudi con un dado (deve essere filettato un bel po' perché il dado deve venire da sopra...)

A prescindere dalle sue idee politiche è inaccettabile che pubblichi delle cose del genere.

Ad un certo punto lui afferma "più di un americano su due fa uso abituale di psicofarmaci" senza fornire alcuna fonte.
Ho trovato molto interessante questo fatto e dunque ho cercato un po' in giro.

Rapidamente ho trovato questi due siti web, non ho fatto una ricerca accurata.

Il primo riporta che circa il 23% della popolazione statunitense fa uso di psicofarmaci, mentre il secondo che il 12% degli adulti utilizzano antidepressivi.
Sono numeri molto alti, ma ben distanti dall'oltre 50% riportato da Fini.

Gli ho dunque scritto una email per capire da dove avesse preso quei dati, in modo da verificare che non mi sia sbagliato io a cercare.

Riporto la sua risposta per intero, non modificata.
"Secondo uno studio del Ministero della Sanità statunitense (questa è la fonte da cui ho ricavato il dato) 564 americani su mille fanno uso abituale di psicofarmaci. Lo studio di cui diedi atto ne 'La Ragione aveva Torto?' è però del 1983. Dubito molto che nel frattempo questa percentuale sia diminuita, ci sono buone ragioni per pensare che sia aumentata. Le fornisco qualche dato di contorno al 2020:
- 1 americano su 5 sviluppa problemi psichici annualmente;
- 1 su 20 ha seri problemi di salute mentale;
- Ogni anno nella fascia di eta compresa tra i 6 e i 17 anni 1 su 6 sviluppa problemi psicologici;
-Il suicidio e la seconda causa di morte tra i 10 e i 34 anni.

Comunque sia viste le stragi che avvengono quasi quotidianamente negli Stati Uniti, del tipo di quella che è avvenuta recentemente in Texas, a me sembra che gli americani siano completamente, per dirla con i Maneskin, "fuori di testa".

Insomma, ha in parte risposto alla mia domanda dicendomi vagamente da dove provengono i dati, tuttavia non ha fornito alcuna fonte reale.
Quale sarebbe il Ministero della Sanità statunitense?
Come posso recuperare lo studio originale in cui c'è scritto che 564 Americani su 1000 fanno uso abituale di psicofarmaci?
Inoltre questi dati sono parecchio datati... le informazioni che lui riporta in seguito non sono affatto sufficienti a sostenere che l'utilizzo di psicofarmaci sia aumentato negli anni.

Ho cercato di recuperare i dati che ha citato; il primo studio non l'ho trovato e non saprei nemmeno dove cercarlo.
Riguardo invece a ciò che riporta nell'elenco puntato sono riuscito a recuperarlo, dato che si è degnato di fornirmi il nome dell'istituto che li ha rilasciati.
Si tratta di dei numeri che ha estratto da alcune infografiche.

Per di più ha pure sbagliato ad interpretare ciò che dicono le infografiche:
- 1 americano su 5 ha avuto problemi psichici (non annualmente... sennò sarebbero tutti pazzi)
- 1 su 20 ha *avuto* problemi psichici gravi
- 1 su 6 nella fascia 12-17 anni ha avuto problemi psichici (non 1 su 6 ogni anno...)

Insomma, questo è ciò che fa arrabbiare del giornalismo italiano.
Si pone molta poca attenzione alla veridicità di ciò che si pubblica e non si da alcun valore alle fonti che si utilizzano, fintanto ché queste vadano a supporto della tesi che si sta portando avanti.
Ora, Fini è solo un esempio ma non è affatto difficile trovare molti altri giornalisti che fanno esattamente la stessa cosa.
Io non ho risposte, tuttavia questa brutta abitudine deve smettere.

I hope you learned some great stuff during this year!

I advise everyone in University to do an Erasmus experience, probably you will be studying and learning much less than in your home university, but you'll gain a lot of personal experience that is great!
Consider looking into how to do one.

How did you get the medications? Did you go to a psychiatrist after the panic attack and then got it prescribed?
What was your opinion of these drugs prior to taking them? Were you scared when you got the prescription?

What about the apathy, how was one of your days in complete apathy?

The question is sensed and the answer might be that life has no meaning, however science cannot provide this answer. You can use all the measurements you like, but you won't get a scientific answer.

Surely numbers can help you, but there's no way that science is giving you an answer.
The 'correctness' of a choice cannot be measured.
You'll be the one deciding what you want to do.
Even if there was a model measuring the goodness of a choice, that would still be arbitrary since it would depend on a number of assumptions made while making it.

One edge case is enough to falsify a whole theory.

Making predictions does not equate to explaining something: neural networks for example make very good predictions about stuff, however provide no explanation.
Moreover, you cannot consider religion and tradition as alternatives to science since these do not work in the same field.
How can you evaluate which works better if they provide answers to different questions?

The scientific method is based on several axioms, thus one might simply disregard it completely if he disagrees with one of those.

No, it depends on several assumptions that you make before making those measurements.
You can measure some values, but these measurements in no way can tell you who has a better life.

Let's take a simple example: measure the amount of friends one has to determine if he has a better life than someone else.
For someone who likes meeting people and staying with them, a higher number will indicate a better life; while for someone with a more ascetic view of life a lower number will indicate a better life.
The results of your evaluation will change according to the assumptions you make, in one case you'll consider one persons life better and in the other the opposite.
Science cannot provide any way to determine these things.

The name of accounts in the notifications can mess up, following this procedure, the user handle is shown rather than the account name.
1. Open the notifications tab
2. Tap the avatar to open the user profile
3. Tap the back arrow
4. Pull down to refresh
5. The username changes to the user handle

I'm downloading a dead wiki from the wayback machine using a script I found on GitHub.
I then plan to restore it using the tool html2mediawiki to then host it on my server.
Did anyone already do something like this and has any advice?
