An older family member who is not on social media heard a bit about the the birdsite fiasco from cable news. She asked if I knew about a #Mastodon & whether it was something from #Twitter.

In <10 minutes, I explained what’s happening & the meaning of a decentralized network. She not only understood, but even asked some thoughtful questions.

If this sweet person - who still uses a VCR - gets it, I reject the notion that the #fediverse is too complicated for regular folks.

I am helping with #neuroscience research using #Unity3D for animal studies. Unity is powerful, and I have had no trouble getting a free educational license, but still, it is a license. Is anyone doing animal studies (3D #VR) with a license-free system like #Godot (#GodotEngine)? I would be interested in hearing about the pros and cons. Note that some of our applications require multiple external displays (at least four, ideally six) running at high frame rates (at least 120 Hz, ideally 240 Hz) showing enough 3D geometry that we need LOD management.

So apparenntly at least one major ISP here in Israel blocks mas.to with a global firewall .. I wonder why that happened.
