@freeschool yeah, not typically what I hear in podcasts. I'm referring more to theme music.
re podcast topics, I'd recommend just doing it about something you can do consistently, unless it's just a short-run kind of thing.

I can't exactly recommend this book just because I haven't read it, and have never made a podcast anyway, but I like most of the podcasts produced by the authors: goodreads.com/book/show/532872

I listen to podcasts faster than real time, but up to about 1.6 I'll not notice it's sped up until music is played. funny how that works

@tsturm @readsteven @EdS funny how listening to NPR, they don't mention the hiccups at all in their brief of the event

"batteries included" for core library interface is a terrible idea. it just means that when I *really* start using your library I have to repeatedly pay a cost of "taking out" the "batteries" by passing in options and setting flags (which, hopefully, are available).

I like better the idea of having an "easy" interface on top to do that: I still have to pay the tax of switching to the core once I'm trying to build my own thing on top, but I only have to pay that cost once for as long as I'm using the library because I'll know the core interface in the future.

@Placholdr no, just an inane comment on how I like trout now 😄

on a related note, I used to think salmon is my favorite fish, but I've taken a turn to trout.

if you need to reheat fish in a microwave, lower the power level (usually, enter the time then hit the power level button, and a number) and cook for a proportionately longer time to prevent the fish from popping/exploding

for years I, and everyone in my house as far as I know, only ever used the microwave at high

@davidak it really is. I shit on it when I first got a beta version with the stock os, but I upgraded Manjaro and it was pretty decent. even the camera software was way better

@forever@fedi.nullob.si that means we can plug in a customized file chooser in gnome? I've wanted that, but found gnome isn't architected for it, and I don't have time to maintain gnome patches for just that @volpeon

it's funny, I set my sleep timer on my podcast player for 18 minutes, but consistently conk-out in 4

@geekmomprojects It's pretty shocking stuff what manufacturers of farming equipment are pulling off (and JD does seem to be at the forefront).

Have you listened to the Adam Savage interview on the EFF podcast last month? They were talking about that as well. Check from about 7:40 minutes in, but the rest of the chat is very interesting too.

@yes @Pat actually, I don't know that, nor am I inclined to believe that by default.

@eqe this has been a genuine frustration with me. I wish notebooks had had composability as a first-class concern from the start, but they only seem to be useful for human consumption @niconiconi

@niconiconi yes except literate programs were intended to be combined with other programs, and that's very difficult with a jupyter notebook

@tsturm oh? well done Boeing. a couple of false starts on this one if I'm not mistaken

@yes > implying she's not qualified and competent to do the job
