I think most people would prefer to see it working again... But he either needs to make it a platform that advertisers want to use again, or find another way to monetize it.

@erin
I didn't expect to pass mine. Started out of boredom after I list a contract during covid. But all Ds and HDs

I'm in Sydney and my uni is really good in the help they provided...

@dick_turpin
Sorry... I was wrong about him not wanting to sell his Tesla shares in case it caused a share crash

It's not to help Trump... He doesn't even seem to like Trump. He makes random decisions and tweets them. He tried to get out of buying Twitter but got taken to court because he'd already signed the contract.

Having now been on #Mastodon for 1 month, a few observations:

- Mastodon makes me realize how much the #Twitter algorithm maximized user outrage to boost engagement for profit. Gross. Here, my feed is interesting & supportive.

- There's a culture of kindness - at least so far. It's extremely appealing & should be normalized on & offline.

- Beyond reactions to toots, people share songs, poetry & ask great questions. I can't remember the last time I found social media to be fun.

My #SpecialInterest at the moment is #Allistic vs #Autistic communication styles and I have a lot to say about it, but I wanted to ask other autistic people something first. In general, how would you describe allistic communication? Please feel free to boost, I'd love to hear a wide variety of opinions.

@dyinglikeastar
I hadn't heard the term allistic before and just looked it up... As to communications, I rely on clear logic to cover for my inability to process emotions. Fortunately, that's helping me in my masters degree.

One of my favorite quotes:
"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it."

@dick_turpin
It's not about the users... They'll be ok as long as they can tweak to see the accounts they want and block those they don't.

It's a question on how Elon can service the debt with interest payments of a billion a year. He can't sell Tesla stock for that... If he did, the share price would crash and bring all his businesses tumbling.

He just doesn't seem to have an idea about what he's doing, or any plans... He's even abusing Apple in tweets for dropping their adverts, which doesn't seem to be a great way to get them back.

@erin
When I first tried, early 1980, before it was really known, I was a complete mess.

I was diagnosed late 40s (just over a decade ago) ... After much experimentation, I started a masters degree. I have one subject left to complete it next year. I'm nearly 60.

I got excellent help from my Uni

NOTE: If anyone wants to be added to this list just let me know.

Ok so this seems to be most of the people who publicly stated they had interest in developing the "United Federation of Instances". All of you should have gotten the first draft and opinions were heard and discussed.

Today I will be moving the first draft over to git (either git.qoto.org or gitlab.com). From there I will encourage each of you to provide suggestions as to edits there, and raise discussions in issues. This way we will be public and have an open transparent forum that keeps the changes on record.

While public feedback is being debated on the proposal I will begin a rough draft on the complete by laws (which will try to represent the broader points in the proposal document). That too will be on gitlab and open to discussion

From there as the movement grows we can begin discussing launching it.

I suggest all communication on the fediverse about this use the hashtag so it is easily searchable.

Since this is a public post I will now share the link to the early draft here, please keep in mind everything here is open for discussion so if anyone doesnt like the current direction, please speak up, we want you to be heard.

They used to stifle misinformation and hate speech... Which did hit a lot of Trump supporters.

Elon has removed all the checks for those two categories and is letting those kicked off come back.

Unfortunately, he's lost half of the top 100 advertisers as they don't see the value on spending on a platform that's generating so much rubbish... The day he announced the new rules, the use of the n-word spiked over 500%.

Promises to be interesting to see how he services the $bn per year in interest on the loan he got to buy the company if he can't convince the advertisers to come back

@ephant @Lilly_Jade_
Thanks... Only new to this platform, so much to learn when I get time between papers for uni

@dick_turpin
What he's referring to is the supposed govt pressure on Twitter to hide the story on Hunter Biden's laptop... The story that the reporters that wrote it refused to have their names on the byline because it was largely falsified by the editorial staff.

Eisenhower warned us about the Military Industrial Complex... But is good for (the result of unfettered ).

@CPhase
The Head of Trust and Safety and , who has been front and centre with Elon in working to convince the market and especially the big advertisers that the rules are still in place and nothing has changed... Is suddenly no longer.

Considering how many scientists are , it's likely that causes . The link is clear.
