The instigating factor is that someone linked me a website that listed instances that blocked us. I went through tthe list by hand, read about pages, and any instance that posted an email and welcomed others to contact them to discuss administrative concerns I did. I sent an email that amounted to "Hey saw we were blocked, are there any problems I can address"... It turns out without my knowledge the website happened to have its code written by someone from kiwifarms. In his reply he said this was "bad optics". That is the only thing that "changed"
He also citted the fact that we federate with all servers, which as you know is something we do specifically for the protection of the lives of our LGBTQ members as they use it to monitor bad actors for doxxing and disseminate that throughout their communities.
But this second point is nonsense because it has been the case since our founding.
With his permission I'd be happy to send you the actual text of the email but since he is unresponsive to any attempts at having a conversation I cant actually get his permission to do so.

@freemo @icedquinn When I was young and single, I celebrated "day I don't get paid to not work, and spend alone."
This year my wife's adult CAD son visits with us. It's not as a religious thing, just a pretext for family time now that I AM paid to not work a couple days.
@lupyuen Women... Smaller, more dexterity for all those wires and cables. Tedious, thankless job. They were considered best suited as programmers.

@Gargron I think I might do a write up explaining the abuse from jonmastodon, something hard hitting, attach it to a similar tweet, then dump $10K into it and let it explode at this point.
@georgetakei I don't get all this stuff of picking an email server. There's Gmail, Live mail, Yahoo and all that jazz... Too confusing. Then you have all these email clients and you can just use their website... It's too much! Why can't they just make email more simple?

@BE I have no regrets for being there for @mikmaqpeek. I signed up for it. She was the one in agony, potentially dying. But the people peddling hate and misinformation do get my knickers knotted.
As a note, a few years later my wife was in ER triage while I parked the car for possible cardiac symptoms. As I came up to join and support her, the nurse asked in a snotty tone, "Are you the husband?"
Exhausted, worried, trying to mask all that so @mikmaqpeek could have calm support, this thing just sorta fell out of my mouth: "Well, I used to be her hired goon, but people looked at us strange so she married me instead."
My wife turned to look at me with shock as it registered, then chuckled despite the pain and fear. The nurse went on about her business but my wife remembered the other nurses chuckling also.
A sense of humor goes a long way to fight back the fear, pain, and terror.
@mguhlin Great freakin' horney-toads! If only someone had taken my interests in science and computers, then tied it with using higher math to solve problems of interest to me at that time... But math was tedious, boring, that's what we have calculators for, and can I please just go back to doing cool non-math stuff now? My current profession is absolutely not at all STEM, and I regret the lost opportunity.
Just not enough to learn the higher math at age 50+.

@Romaq I've read all the NYT articles about this horror. My daughter in Denver was extremely upset. She is involved with the LGBTQ community in Denver, and there is a lot of to-ing and fro-ing between Springs and Denver. It's so fortunate that someone was there who could react and attack the shooter. I understand from the articles that he sort of went berserker and really pounded this guy. Totally understandable. Glad I wasn't there.

This may be useful if you are using Android. If not, I fully expect you will get kind support with what others are using suitable for you.
@AmandaHilden Obviously, it will only work on YOUR tweets, and you may have a different color scheme or perhaps a client. But the "..." on the right-hand side at the bottom of your own posts should offer you that option. If you are not using the website, it would depend on the Mastodon client you are using, and I'm sure kind people who also use it can assist.
Keep in mind, it *deletes* your old post while pasting in text for you to edit to make a *new* post. I think there is a change coming for an actual "edit", but it is not here yet. More info when it rolls out, I'm sure.

@AmandaHilden Might be a good time to test out the "edit" feature if you wish, but I understood and had no problems. I do try to be mindful because of automatic translation and readers for the impaired. But, obviously, I'm human and I simply don't catch everything. Blessed be!

@Romaq I do find joy on Twitter but then I don’t because of so many angry people who get upset over the littleist of things. So far I’ve encountered more friendly people on Mastadon then any other social network I’ve been on! I might in time fine my joy here. However, still thinking about going back to crazy bird place because of friends that don’t use Mastodon. I’m going think on it for awhile… Until then, I will remain here, and on another site called MeWe.
