Mh, I have a repo on where the main programming language, for like everything, is .
Github keeps saying that the language is Turing.

How can I convince him otherwise?

Not everyone knows that Julius Caesar was kidnapped by pirates. It was the 75 bce and was headed towards Rhode. They asked 20 talents as a ransom, and he was very offended by it: "ask at least 50!", he said.
During the captivity, Caesar was like a boss. He read them his poetry, which they didn't like, and he insulted them as "ignorant barbars!". He would get angry if they made noise while he was sleeping, and kept saying "I'll get you all crucified when I get back".

He was then freed after the sum was payed.
He went back, quickly assembled a small naval force, and attack them.
He took the money back, and killed them.

To be fair, he developed a bond with them so he had their throat slit to save them from the agonies of the crucifix. He crucified the bodies, as it was the case with pirates.

All of this when Caesar was not, well, Caesar. He was only 25 yo, with no militar or political power, but you can already see he was going to f**king majestic.

One of the best indicators of the Ancient Roman activity you can find is, surprisingly, Greenland's ice.
Since the republican times lead pollution was so strong that it's still detectable now, at over 2800 kms and 2100 years of distance

First Punic war. Romans are heavily defeated by the Carthaginians who capture their consul, Marcus Attilius Regulus.
He is sent to Rome in 256 bC to break a peace deal, and he promises he'll be back in Carthago after all it's done.

He goes to Rome, and instead tells the senate, urges the soldiers, roars at the people to keep fighting, as Carthage will fall.
Than, fully aware of what awaits him, goes back to Carthage where he's tortured to death. Because he gave his word.

I'm using multimarkdown to write my thesis. It's a more advanced markdown parser which converts md to tex, and from there to pdf.

It's SO-NICE to write a thesis in markdown instead of having to think about styling and stuff at the same time.

A shoutout to the project, I'm happy with it

Tomorrow I have a job interview to do something I actually like: maps, webgis and geoanalysis. Wish me luck, those people seem rather untrustworthy!

Is anyone here from the community? With my association I'm thinking to start making courses and being recognized by QGIS to issue official certificates. I've never contributed to the codebase though, I'm just a user with some kinda good knowledge of it. What are the chances that I'd have troubles with it? How does the assessment actually works?

Thanks!

Anyone else alone in this new years eve? How are you coping?

Does anyone use virtual assistants, lile alexa or google assistant? I'm thinking of using some help to get more time off the screen, so that I don't have to check the phone for the time, to remember my calendar or if I have a quick curiosity. Anyone knows if that may work?

I'd take a small course on "how not to upset professors" without hesitation.
It's really damn hard to be polite and kind and all when a professor keeps making very basic mistakes and dismissing your thoughts without even a comment

Can't wait to finish this degree

there is so many beautiful people that close themselves up because of , and I can't get to even know them, that it makes me really f**king angry.

Ancient mastodon pictures discovered in the Amazon rainforest!

theguardian.com/science/2020/n

"Their date is based partly on their depictions of now-extinct ice age animals, such as the mastodon, a prehistoric relative of the elephant that hasn’t roamed South America for at least 12,000 years. There are also images of the palaeolama, an extinct camelid, as well as giant sloths and ice age horses."

Amazing!

This makes me think of one of my favourite book series, Earth's Children by Jean M. Auel :)

I bought three keyboards from amazon and had to return them all. Seems like having a perfect keyboard is really, really hard. What do you use?

I'm looking for something with short run, a wrist rester and island buttons, silent, decent feedback. It's amazing how picky can i be over this kind of stuff.

Give me your thoughts about keyboards!

@QOTO@groups.qoto.org

After discussing with the QOTO moderators we would like to nominate @khird as a new moderator.

It isn't official yet though, we want to give all of our users a chance to consider our nomination and vote either for or against. Also users are welcome and encouraged to nominate their own suggestions as well.

After about a week if no objections are raised and the support is positive with no opposing nominations to consider we will make the nomination real.

Lets hear from you!

I'm not sure how to deal with this. Even just 1 hour on the computer seem to drain all my energy out, I can't even wash the dishes afterwards.
Today a did a full day without and I felt alive after days... does someone else have the same problem? How do you deal with it, especially if you have to work with the computer?

I don't understand, why do many server based services, like instagram or snapchat, do not have a full browser compatibility? I don't think it should take them a lot of time to write a web front end, would it?

I think philosophy of science should be mandatory for every science field.
Seems to me like many scientists forget the importance of replicability when they put in the papers stuff like "this population of orchid was isolated in Sicily", or "in Belgium", I even find places that do not exist, and they keep the raw data for themselves so that I can't reproduce the analysis.

Some morning I hate scientists. There sure is a lot to fix in the structure

Oftentimes I have no clue what the people are talking about, and now in this covid times is so hard to get a grip on what the mainstream topics of conversation are, as I have no mainstream social and are, internet-wise, a bit on the weird side in my country.

So I thought: how can I check what the most trending topics of conversation are?

so far I thought about checking google searches for my country and see what keywords had a spike in the past 2-3 weeks, or get some new rss feed.

Anyone had the same problem and solve it without much effort?
