@freemo
Sounds good, I can add it to my ToDo list, likely for tomorrow morning?

Right now I have the "Documenting new Features and Functions" as the immediate focus (coming up soon -- Bookmarks button and what does it do?)

@arteteco @mngrif

Here are Two screenshots showing what a Quoted post looks like (our sys admin here, who Quoted my own post above in a new message).

a. As seen in our instance, with the Mastodon Web Client.

b. as seen via Pinafore, and other mastodon clients (possibly also the same in other Mastodon instances Web Clients).

A new Feature we just added to QOTO.org is this neat "Quote" button - what does it do?

- It will start a New Toot (NOt a Reply), while including a reference to the post you were interested in (and where you used the "" Quote mark Button).

- You will be able to use the Toot Editor as in any other posts; selecting Privacy level, adding images or video attachments.

- And once your post is complete, it will contain a "Frame" which in our Web client looks quite neat -- containing the username and avatar, text of the Quoted post.

- That Frame is also a Live link to that original post, so people can quickly jump to it if desired.

Simple, quick, and it will not break other Mastodon clients; they will simply show a simplified version of the info we see here.

(It will be similar to the many Retweet posts, with a link to the original Toot)

Hey, totally new here. Wanted to post an article I wrote on films, do I just post?

@freemo @sozialwelten

You could maybe send a DM to William and ask what his plans are for additional work in the Guppe project? He's at @ datatitian@social.coop

@Noelvera Hello, Noel, yes, you can post a new Toot - and it will be sent all over the place.

Suggestions:

- Have a title line, space it at the top so it stands out.

- add an attractive image, related to your post's text.

f you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu

@freemo
I think adding control and administration features to Guppe Groups would be excellent, right now it seems to be fully functional but there's no way to stop spamming or block any bad content.

Alex wrote a Blog post about Guppe and he mentioned the moderation problem, along with some suggestions -- including the First User becoming the group owner.

Having Groups working would benefit users in many instances, not just Qoto. So if you do have some ideas and the time to work on it, it's a nice project.

@freemo @realcaseyrollins@mstdn.social @mngrif @arteteco Oh annoyances of the Internet. 😔

Will keep an eye for odd new posters.

INTJ characters list.

@snow Thank you for the post, and for including me as an example of the INTJ types. A nice list of interesting people, even HAL9000 being included. 👍

@arteteco @freemo @snow @mngrif @users @QOTO I also have animations in general disabled, as much as possible, they seem more of a distraction than content. The design Snow has made is pretty and colourful, but I can foresee some backlash (as Freemo mentioned, regarding the Arxiv bots).

Some people don't like to see instance features as a new user attraction factor (these people are usually supporters of the 500 chars hard limit, Eugen included).

I like the current qoto announce bot avatar, it's the same image that is displayed at the joinmastodon.org site, isn't it?

@elbeladi Hello, Ahmed, and welcome to Qoto.

@freemo Maybe I can work on creating some tomorrow afternoon.

@freemo @khird @realcaseyrollins Went to look at how these Quotes look like in Pinafore, and it's indeed underwhelming. 😔

Bummer, as they work so well in the webclient.

@freemo I think it's too new to be popular yet. We will likely need some posts explaining the various new features (with illustrations!) before they gain traction and common usage.

It is an essential and long missing feature - we were lucky to have Full Text search working well here in the instance, which until now was my life saver (to dig my own posts where I had explained something in detail, frequently, for reuse as necessary).

@realcaseyrollins It is already in use in the local timeline - Qoto users are already discovering it.

Now wait for everyone else asking "how did you do that?"

@freemo That's quite interesting. A nice way to bring some post found in the Home or Federated timelines for attention and comment in an instance's own Local one too.

@freemo Neat, and the inner quote is a live link to original post. 😃
