Woke up to find the twitter exodus **Still** accelerating. The last 24 hours has been the biggest influx yet, up over 20% from yesterday. We are seeing 1000 new users a day now!
There were certainly manufacturing issues at play that didnt help. I could dig up some citations im sure but this is a pretty old post so I dont have it handy. Wikipedia does cover this in depth though.
I really appreciate that. Myself, and in fact many of us (surely the mods I menntioned) have been here a long time , and it can get tiring at times, especially dealing with the drama you deal with as an admin. So it always feels good to hear when someone appreciates the effort.
I think we have a really amazing well rounded group that gets along well. It is always nice to have new people like yourself come too and I hope I get to talk to you alot.

I have always found when managing/coordinating/being part of teams that accomplishing an objective together feels much more rewarding and is a richer experience than if that goal had been reached alone.

There are about a dozen really bad actors, once you block those servers you cover the bulk of the content. Works well. The main reason we **dont** block servers was at the LGBTQ's communities request. At the time Milo was on Gab and they used accounts here to follow him so they could see when he doxxed someone and use it to warnt he community (as was the norm at the time and a big deal). In fact its why we added the subscribe feature, specifically so they could follow people without being identifiable as doing so.
Its one reason we dont block, its like putting blocks in a web browser, it hurts the victims too.

New user here. Had been considering the change for a while, took the plunge with the rest of the refugees of the #TwitterMigration. Lurked for a few days before posting.
I mostly used the birdsite for learning, #medtwitter was something I think worked rather well.
That said... By comparing with my (admittedly small, but fresh) home feed here at #Mastodon, during these past few days I have come to realize just how much the birdsite's algorithms were keeping me within rather limited boundaries, even if my tastes and interests have always been the same. #Mastodon has been giving me less noise and more content.
I am hopeful that this new experience might expand my cultural horizons through all of your wonderful collective and collaborative input and feedback!

@raucao I would hope they arent thst bad ::shrug::
I am also generally against open block lists... that said there are a few that are responsible and try to vet and fact check additions to it. Like Fediblock I think is fairly good at giving fact checked reasons most of the time.
The issue is onne mistake can be really harmful too.
