I've been working on reading the papers that make up SuperLU (a direct sparse linear solver) and I stumbled across this list of freely available linear algebra software - good to have around!

My professor wants us to work with BioEdit. This program is:

* , even though free (as in free beer)
* Only works with Windows, can't even manage to install it on VM with Wine.
* **is unmaintained since 2009**.

Please and community, help me find something I can work it that doesn't feel like wearing a shoe filled with beans, or at least install this thing... seems like winxp is slow up to uselessness in VM for some reason.

Thanks!

I've just redesigned my experimental garden's shape. I couldn't stand all those keyholes and weird paths anymore.

Wrote a small article about it, which is like a long toot with more pictures, in case anyone is curious about it: arteteco.com/20shapes/

Mathematical!

My NumWorks arrived and now I can Python everywhere!

when I first ran D&D, my grandmother, who had bought fully into the IT'S SATANISM hype, insisted on sitting and watching the first session

about an hour in, she threw her hands up and yelled 'THIS IS JUST MATH' and stormed off

I am 100% convinced this mathematician is a witch:

I love all her videos there arent many but now I want to sit in on one of her more advanced lectures.

LOL, I dont like agreeing with Trump on things, but seems he was right about her after all.

Been working on integrating my earlier ncurses-telnet integration into my MUD game. Its been a huge pain in the ass trying to fix various issues including telnet codes, unicode rendering, window refreshing. But seems I have everything but the telnet code sorted out. Here is a little peek at the basic setup (more virtual windows will be added soon). Hopefully I'll have a bug free version to demo in a few days.

Interesting #DDoS approach, find vulnerable IoT devices (w/ UDP services prone to amplification) close from the victim to bypass ISP anti-DDoS mechanisms, for example from within the same AS or /24, talk by @DennisRand #Hacklu t.co/jdgytuB7F6

Ok so i made a mistake on this problem. Turns out this was accidentally a trick question. The answer is that any amount of fuel will get you to any height. The reason being that as the fuel is expended the mass of the ship approaches 0, so acceleration approaches infinity. So by the time the rocket is out of fuel it would be moving at the speed of light no matter how much fuel it started with.

As suck I will post a new version of this question and ill make sure i solve it BEFORE I post it.

Woot got the new inks in I've been waiting for with anticipation. The pens are ordered left to right to match the writing top to bottom. You can't see it in the picture but the gold sheen ink has a subtle but noticeable gold sparkle to it. that and the oxblood are my favorites.

I loved my new pen so much I bought a 4 pack of a similar model from the same company. I also ordered some sepcialty Inka to try in them all, as well as the more expensive American brand that the Chinese pen was ripping off.

The purple ink I just tried is Iroshizuku ink, it is one of the most popular high end inks. I can see why, it days very fast. The color could be a bit richer though. Looking forward to trying my other inks a bit more cause the other ones are a bit less well known but with a long history. Oxblood will be fun to try.

Woot! after three seperate failing attempts I managed to get Unicode box drawing characters on NCurses to work through telnet using Ruby. All my attempts in the past either rendered with plain ascii or not at all, it was very ugly.

This will ultimately get integrated into the Open-source :opensource: Ruby :ruby: MUD I've been writing called Aethyr (a text-based mmorpg)
