Interestingly the influx of new users from twitter has increased since Musk's announcement rather than dying down... Apparently Musk isnt doing much to help his reputation.

#Mastodon is not "distributed", it's "federated". A "distributed" model only have one "database" which is copied in all nodes. In a "federated" model, there are different "databases" which communicates with each other but does not copy each other.
So, in a federated model like Mastodon and all #ActivityPub-based social networks, no one server have an exact copy of another server.
While in a distributed model like #Aether, all nodes share the same copy of everything.

@design_RG I can't say one distro is better than another. Personally, I use a distro that can run fine in the machine I'm installing it.
For example, in the decade old netbook I'm using, I have Bodhi Linux in it. In the not that old machine, I have Peppermint OS.
For the new gaming desktop I'm planning to build, I'm picking Linux Mint, while a new gaming laptop I am eyeing, I'll use Ubuntu (since I'm going to use it when covering presscons and seminars too, where most people are using Mac or Windows).
Of course there is the customisation and ease of use factors. For customisations, both Ubuntu and Mint are top in my list. For ease of use, especially for those coming from Windows, Linux Mint is my suggestion (with Lubuntu coming second). :)

Google engineers have revealed that “unsafe” code within Chrome is responsible for 70% of its security vulnerabilities and 125 of the 130 “critical” bugs found in the browser over the last year.
While all Chromium-based browsers (Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave, etc) are built on the same code and therefore subject to the same weaknesses, one alternative stands out: Firefox. Unlike Chromium browsers, Firefox is built using Rust, a safety-focused programming language which is specifically designed to be memory safe.

I'm wondering though if any Android One phones were affected, it might mean the malware is attaching to something Android critical.
@masterofthetiger@theres.life That's the mysterious thing about this one, they can't trace where it's hiding. It just affects everyone even after a factory reset. Once it's in, there's currently no known way to remove it. :(
#Android users! Be very careful with sideloading / APK-installing apps. Once you get infected by this, you have to live with it.
