It is the people who fail, unfortunately. And it's always those who fight supposedly for tolerance.
And unfortunately, instead of everyone talking to everyone I'm afraid that there will start to be a very big polarization and closed groups of only one right vision of the world.
My suggestion, spread this story to journalists and lets get some attention to it..
Here is the list of journalists on the fedi:
Here is the story:

So I decided to post the article I wrote (linked below) on twitter and am going to dump some money into promoting it there. Gotta get some attention to this. Go boost over on twitter if you'd like.

Interested or know someone who is interested in playing #Minecraft but not started yet?

In 2021, I started teaching myself #Java Programming for #Minecraft plugins using YouTube videos and whatever answers/explanations to things I could find in Google.
In 2022, I rewrote two of my server's core plugins entirely, making them better, more efficient, and have extra features.
My goal for 2023 is to create a brand new minigame plugin from scratch that will work just the way I want it to and give the players years of fun.
Before starting my server in 2013, I was a web developer working with PHP, which kinda prepared me but also really didn't prepare me. So having gotten this far without a teacher is something I'm really proud of and I hope to continue making progress in an effort to make my server even better.
I'm sharing my goal publicly because as they say... that adds accountability. Now I have to see it through or everyone will ask me about. lol
So... do you happen to have any good resources for learning Java at home?

re: meta mastodon moderation / blocking
@ombremad No worries - I'm perfectly fine to agree to disagree :) I consider this exchange to be a perfect example of what I was pointing out in the original thread.
I'm what others call a feminist, an LGBTQ-ally, don't consider free speech to mean anyone has to listen to it etc. Yet you ended up implying I was the opposite of all that just because my opinions here bothered you.
Ducks into the nether, sees a Piglin, ducks right back to the Overworld...
"Yes, yes, I'm putting on pants. I know you guys REALLY hate it when I'm not wearing pants."
I was lucky to find gold pants ready in a nearby chest, more by accident than design.
Hey happy as hell to see you here!

Instances can get defederated by other instances for the following reasons:
1) Not moderating "well enough"
2) Peering with other instances that aren't moderated "well enough"
3) Hosting accounts of a type others don't want to have in their federation
... and no two instances are in complete agreement what's covered in 1, 2 or 3.
Now let's be clear - I don't consider anything here to be wrong. I'm pondering the wider effects.

meta mastodon moderation / blocking
Wow - this is awesome. Now, I'm old enough to have been a moderator on Fidonet. And on IRC. Both the regular IRC and the one that ran as a backend to a huge social network (Sweden only) that was a bit like Facebook but long before Facebook. And some other things.
But the discussions on #fediblock regarding defederation are definitely bringing up a completely new aspect to network moderation I haven't really seen in this light before.

Disturbed by reports of Black Mastodon users—Black women in particular—having negative experiences on this app, including being randomly banned for discussions of racism. Some of these users will not come back. All will share their experiences. The answer is not to condescendingly lecture them on “how the fediverse works,” as if their experiences are inevitable, nor to swear to do better next time. (There may not be one.) It’s to do better now lest the reputation of this app be cemented.
For those who care attached are the screenshots of the nazi who was banned from QOTO some time back and started a hate campaign by pretending to be LGBTQ ally "calling us out" but just made up lies... he did this over the course of many months and ultimately is the source of the problems that snowballed and led to all this to begin with.
I will do a write up on this soon.
Greetings! I am Stuart Duncan or probably better known online as AutismFather.
I created Autcraft, the #Minecraft server for #autistic children and their families in 2013 when I noticed many parents reaching out to other parents in hopes that their autistic children could play together because they were being attacked on public servers so much by bullies and trolls.
Since then, the server has added over 16,000 name to the list of approved players and been featured in many research papers, news articles, a TED Talk, and even Mojang's own "Meet a Minecrafter."
I started out with a diploma in Radio Broadcasting, became a writer about autism after my son and I were diagnosed, and then started my Minecraft server, where I finally found where I truly belonged and have been ever since.
I am most interested in helping people, but beyond that, #science, #videogames, #photography, and in plain ole, simple, wholesome, kind videos and news. I try to look for the "good news" more than the bad.
