my mother used this proverb: Those who have tongue can reach Sardinia"
or
those who have tongue will travel to Sardinia
or
will end up in Sardinia
Sardinia is an island and although a big one, it has historically suffered with difficult connections, both by air and by sea
The proverb means that by talking with people you can reach far away places and difficult ones
@freemo @design_RG once you’ve gone Gnu you can’t go back either. :)
@design_RG I run multiple virtual machines simultaneously so having a reasonable laptop with 16gb ram helps.
Windows isn’t horrible in my opinion, but i only use it when I can’t use free software for the same task (back to visual studio).
@freemo cool, thanks for the advice. I don't think I'll break my gnome habit any time soon but I am definitely curious.
@freemo which one out of qtile and i3 makes you feel happy to be alive, (i'll try that one)? I'm guessing qtile.
@freemo lol (https://www.reddit.com/r/unixporn/comments/3iy3wd/stupid_question_what_is_ricing/) i had no idea. Well, I'm doing a server some time this week. Maybe I should try one of these tiling window managers and see how hard I crash and burn. 😆

I'm a free speech lover and I like this place to be a platform for our users to get in touch with as much as they want of the fediverse, as long as there is no **active** harassment of any of us.
The rest is up to the users and the clients, they have a lot of power in carving their own informational niche, and that one of the big reasons why AP exists in the first place.
I understand that people may not be familiar with the technology, which has never had this scale of usage, but if you want freedom and independence is it too much to ask that you just search "mastodon how to silence instance", or whatever you may need?
We as mod are also always here to answer doubts and help our users to get the best out of this place, but no, I personally would never take the arrogant decision of what is good or bad for others to be exposed to.
Please, @evaristus , if we want to talk about it in a serious way could you please open a topic on discourse? We encourage this kind of discussion and it would be easier for anyone to follow.
@Absinthe I think I’m missing out on some fun every time you post these, then I remember I’ve got a backlog of stuff that needs doing and I suppress the urge to go to the site. Unfinished work must beat procrastination if payments are to be made. Maybe if the site is still up later I’ll go and check it out
@freemo do you mean referring to women not known to you by these terms? I find it odd that people would not call loved ones by these terms, regardless of gender. They aren’t offensive are they? I find all of those terms very endearing and nurturing in tone. I must be a monster.
@shibaprasad I lied about profiles not being well supported in Linux. I just installed 2.9 in a fresh pop!os and it’s completely complete. It’ works like a charm. This is very handy when you have multiple github/bitbucket/azure/aws accounts and need to flick between them. Life is good.
@pganssle there needs to be a common ground clause somewhere.
@starwall Build a bot that posts your account balance after every transaction. Should help save a bit of money.
@pganssle fair call. My relationship with work is different, I have concurrent “customers”, and those relationships span years. There is no way I could manage anything other than BYOD. NDA’s already cover IP mess, I don’t think it matters what is sitting on my disks really all that much.
I have never worked for a US tech giant though. Nor have I had your specific experience, and my customers are probably little fish in comparison. :)
Posts Editing in Mastodon // Consider Friendica @Dr DeJahang
Keep in mind qoto is an open-source varient of mastodon. That means anyone can offer up new features if they wish.

@design_RG reminds me of my brain
@pganssle I usually have a BYOD arrangement, I wonder with yours, how much the contract would change? It’s in their interest to have staff living out of work devices. I’ve seen salary staff leave their laptops at work for work life balance. I’ve always found my investment in the job overrides this mentality and I do all kinds of shit on work computers at home as well as a little extra work as a result. So when I start somewhere they have to invent or apply a BYOD policy.
@pganssle that sounds like you are given a fair degree of flexibility, providing your output conceptually fits the banner of some product. The contract might get weird but above all you can act autonomously which is great
autonomous, self-propagating, chemical system, low intelligence quotient, possible synaptic dysfunction, flawed sense of humor, poor genetic material, reproduction not recommended. 1 out of 10 stars.
