Wait so if Gab isn't on the Fediverse any longer, is there a likelihood of QOTO reconciling with the instances that blocked us for not blocking Gab?

@realcaseyrollins @khird

Good idea, let's invite @isolategab -- Hello, do we have any official news of Gab disconnecting from Fediverse for real now?

Thank you!

@khird Went to check and here's what it shows at fediverse.space -- fediverse.space/instance/masto

and the same is also shown for their other URLs.

@khird That is a really good question - and I will enjoy watching the developments.

A lot of those people had hard feelings against the instance, or were aggravated with the admin. So I think there's bad blood and it won't be a quick heal.

I am glad if they are gone, a good thing; they were isolated and so little passed into the larger Fediverse, but yet the patrols were out, drumming people to be put against the wall. That FediBlock hash tag is completely disgusting.

@khird Did they announce the change of protocol and implement it already?

We had a nice discussion thread about it the other day.

* Cool Ideas we see out there. *

Earlier today I visited Tom's instance, kafuka.me/ , and noticed an interesting feature -- that Boosted posts were shown in their Local feed.

Remarkable, I had never seen that until now; later on, mentioned it to Koyu, at koyu.space/ . And Tom confirmed it's an Admin panel option in GlitchSocial.

Koyu being on the cutting edge, promptly offered if I wanted the feature enabled; I made some comments and left the decision to her.

Who quickly implemented it, see screenshot # 3 -- of the Local Feed.

Many thanks -- I think this feature is a great tool for smaller instances, helping add dynamism and Content Discovery. Well done, friends.

Not only we have the new forum, but I have just collected a topic we discussed here, earlier today in our local feed -- and made it into a prettier, formatted and in-line illustrated page.

The way a good manual page could be; and there's a need, the documentation available is very limited; so I plan to add to it.

First Topic, brand new Forum.

* Assigning Colour Themes to Allow easy Multi-Instances use in Pinafore Client *

Please visit : discourse.qoto.org/t/assigning

The Forum is publicly Visible (anyone can read) and open to new user registrations if you want to comment, ask questions about Pinafore or have any suggestions to the Author. We will be sure to pass those along, and Nolan is very good with supporting, promptly responding when I had something to ask.

Many Thanks to Nolan Lawson (@nolan) and Dr. Freeman (@freemo).
Special thanks to Coralie @globcoco for inspiring this inaugural topic.

* A new Pinafore client discussions Forum is now online at Qoto's Discourse Forums *

We now have a brand new sub-forum, dedicated to the powerful and fast Pinafore client for Fediverse.

I am a big fan of Pinafore, since first trying it six months ago. It is a popular client with power users, as it is FAST and Light, plus has elegant design, clean UI and many nice features.

Nolan Lawson is the author of Pinafore, and I have told him many times how I enjoy it.

As part of Fandom, I thought we could do more to support Great Software, and requested a new Project Forum for Pinafore here at our Discourse Forum. Our Qoto.org admin graciously agreed and created it, and it's now opening for business.

As a matter of fact, an Introductory post was needed, so here we are. :smileycat:

* Selecting Colour Themes for our various instances in the Pinafore Client for Fediverse *

@globcoco

>> The same I used at mamot.
>> I think that if I'm using the same pages and layout I might confuse myself but I love the easy set up.

* Go into Settings and select one of the instances you have configured (hint -- double click on the Star in the right, and it's a ONE click switch, instantaneous).

* Done that? Now go into Settings --> General Settings.

* Slide to the Bottom of the page.

* and select one of the many Themes - Light or Dark, whichever you prefer.

* that theme becomes the Default for the current instance, and by selecting different ones, we can tell we are in one place or another.

There's lots of choices and the client is really a delight to use.

Client is Tops.

* Intuition.

When you heart and your mind concur that something is a good idea, I like to follow.

Example, inviting someone I met yesterday and had some wonderful conversations with. An attentive listener, a bright mind and a fast learner.

Confirmed when I look at the person's profile after just a few hours, and find it already growing roots and being an appreciated part of our community.

Those followers, they all agree.

Hope we could find such great people more often, but it's a joy. Welcome to Coralie. You are a Star.

Thank you for the stimulating conversations.

@hansw LOL, no wonder. 😜

Even here, it gets ugly sometimes.

@hansw I can't stand the orange man either, and equally, can't vote or influence their votes. So hopefully they do the right thing this time.

It is tremendously draining to see that man, everyday, calling attention to his absurdity and misdemeanours.

@feld Well, their graph shows it topping up at just over 99 Mb/s for incoming traffic, so it appears that's their connection speed.

Conditions vary, and in some places there's less options and much higher costs.

I loaded their site and it seems responsive, maybe it has stopped now.

@hansw Agreed, 100%. Glad you came.

We used to have a great Local feed when I joined here in November, then in December. But later it died out, and new user types came around, Twitter exiles who talked only to their existing twitter friends who had also moved here.

Result, it became dismal. As recently as a month ago it was BAD here. I was dismayed.

But we have managed to turn things around, and that is a major improvement. If I had joined Mastodon and gone into mastodon.social, as most did when I came (coincidentally, at the time of the Indian Diaspora from Twitter), I wouldn't have stayed for 3 days, for sure. It's just crazy there.

@feld That must be their full incoming Bandwidth, saturated.

Yeah, that will do it, anyday.

@hansw That was a wonderful post, and a great life story, Hans. I am glad you came here. We can all gain from more nice people joining us.

Cheers!
