@hansw Use their VPN app for mobile, same account. Works well too.

@globcoco Thank you, Coralie. 🙂

I lived thru those times, went to University and only had my first calculator then, 1st year Uni, same time when I got the Introduction to Programming course. And then a following course, which applied computing to Numerical Calculus problems.

Really enjoyed writing it, all of it ws here, posted on an inspired moment, chatting with @k11m1 -- and I knew it would be a good Blog post.

It's long, but can't chop it in pieces. Hope people will enjoy it.

I should think about a Masters degree in History of Technology, it's something that always attracted me. But I love this -- researching, organizing, presenting materials, promoting ideas and pushing for action.

Much more than boring academic work, journals, etc. Still, it could be a possibility.

@globcoco

Thanks, Coralie.

Yes, I feel it's important that we stand and act on what we believe in.

Toots can be backed up and exported (along with all the media), it is an option in the Preferences panel.

But importing them, I don't think it's doable at this time.

The best option is to leave all as is, have a full backup and create pointers to a new location if a move is needed.

There's an option in there regarding a Move, but I imagine it would lock the local account, no longer posting possible, that is not ideal.

I would like to see some action, and just making it clear how important that is to me.

>> Unloading tabs is cool ^^

Yep, I agree.

But with Waterfox here, I have 99 open at this moment, and all is well, still have memory left.

No machine of mine ever runs Chrome. For years now, maybe 8 or more.

@kaiyou

Merci, kaiyou!!!

That solved the problem. Wonderful, thank you.

@globcoco -- you might want to look at this topic, a problem in the default display on Write.Freely!

Copy kaiyou's code snippet into your personal account, Customization box. Save and voilá!

* How To Write A Blog Post People Read *
by Rachel Thompson, @BadRedheadMedia

medium.com/the-1000-day-mfa/ho

"Unsure how to structure your blog posts? Here’s a quick guide to get you started!

Writing a blog post people will read isn’t rocket science, yet it does take some skill. As I work with writers new to blogging, many are stumped by how to go about structuring a blog post."

A nice read, recommend it for anyone interested in writing and blogging in special. Thank you, Rachel!

@design_RG Well I hope you leave your profile behind as an alt at least.

To see you leave for good would truly be the end of an era 😳

@realcaseyrollins Yes, thank you!

I have almost 7 Thousand posts here, and don't take it lightly, they are meaningful to me and to others.

I am fully engaged in activism and education, and have left communities in the past where I was Staff, and had over 5,000 posts. Never returned, although my profile and posts are still there.

Here, I wouldn't want to lose my posts, but would reduce my presence substantially.

and send followers pointers, they already see and follow my new active accounts at GlitchSocial and now FAB instance.

@realcaseyrollins
Not leaving yet, but giving serious notice.

30 days, and after that the bulk of my work will be elsewhere.

I have already moved all my Publishing to GlitchSocial, for sheer annoyance with vanilla Mastodon.

Freemo has a project in mind, but I am making it public that I would like some progress on that. Soon, the better.

30 Days Notice....

Banned for Markdown Love, and getting it.

Various places offer it, right now.

Moving, it's not a Rent unpaid issue, just general dissatisfaction with Mastodon's lack of features, slow evolution. etc.

4 Me too.

on the move.

* Memories - Starting in Computing, in the 70's *

* Programming, can be Fun or Frustrating

A recent conversation, which started naturally once I saw Klimi's post - qoto.org/@k11m1/10418579927731 :

> *sigh*.... Why code can't run without errors on the first go....

My response to this simple statement was a long reply -- qoto.org/@design_RG/1041865682 , which I thoroughly enjoyed writing, and now forms the body of this page.

As usual, I love Writing, and this is Long Form prose. Lavishly illustrated, References and links included. A Web Magazine page I am proud of.

That is the Topic of today's Blog --> write.tedomum.net/rgx/memories .

*This post is dedicated to @absturztraube@fedi.absturztrau.be and the FAB community -- fedi.absturztau.be/ , so were so gentle and welcoming when I joined FAB yesterday.*

as clearly noted, all applications can be found in similar tools in all other op systems. Just look for them.

@zleap

@zleap HTML coding not required or recommended in discourse.

Simply copy and paste the image.

on right side preview of pos, click on image. Select original size, 100%, or 75% or 50% with a single click.

html is too arcane and obtuse for daily use.

also -- the Import tool will brign in an image from your own machine, or from a URL anywhere, without need for downloading it first.

is quite nice.

@zleap I would suggest a better course.

* a simple graphics editor is a Must Have tool for any serious contributor. Along with a nice Text editor and a good file manager, so we can store and retrieve things with ease, organize and all.

Tools that I use and suggest -- Keep in mind that I am a seasoned Windows Server admin, and love ; not productive at all in Linux, although I recognize Unix is tops.

All recommendations are for Windows platform. Equivalents for other O.S.es abound.

* Image Editor -- the wonderful Irfanview does it for me. All. The. Time. Simple and powerful. Free. Does software get any better than that simple description?

irfanview.com/ for details and downloads. Get the Plugins package there too!

* Text Editors - these are like Religions, and equally charged discussions will come alive when what's best is discussed. Without opinions offered on others, EditPad Lite is the one I use and recommend.

editpadlite.com/

* File Manager -- essential, can't live without it. Used various over the past 30 years of intensive life in Computing. Nowadays the Windows 10 Explorer is good and daily used here.

Excellent ones can be found and used. Honours mention to MultiCommander, I use the x64 bit version.

ToolKit explained. Blog post upcoming!

@globcoco

If you ever need a passionate guide, I am the one. Visited the whole country, love it.

Would like to move there permanently, still percolating this idea.

@globcoco Ooops sorry -- I delete/redrafted the post you replied to.

Switching the URL from Pinafore search to qoto local one.

Yes, it's here --> qoto.org/web/statuses/10418941

...and it has links to earlier conversations with @Full_marx as well.

Got it into my editor and starting to create a yarn, for the Blog version.

Will announce that when ready.

And a reminder to any readers, local here at Qoto or remote, anywhere, that if you have a Git account, you could consider commenting in this Suggestion if you found the proposal worthwhile.

Explained in detail in the Git submission, and in more layman terms in our Discourse Forum topic here :

discourse.qoto.org/t/mastodon-

If you feel this is a worthy cause --> Your support of the suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you!

for Better in Fediverse.
