@zonarolo It uses a huge amount of space, which is why most servers cant afford to do it even if they have been around for a while. Luckily QOTO is a very well funded server and can afford the space.

Sadly there is a bit of a bug with our latext right now, but i have it fixed in the source already and am going to attempt a release this weekend.. if its successful latex should work smoothly again.

@apinae We do accept donations, but I have donated more than enough with well over 10,000$ in our bank account from my own pocket. So we have enough money to operate for years right now.

If you really want to give back thinking of non-financial ways (even just been a contributing member of the community) helps far more than money.

@_JAStockdale There are several apps that work with qoto on both iphone and android, but they arent made specifically for QOTO.

Qoto uses a standard protocol called "ActivityPub". Any client which talks that language can be used to access your account here. Its the same protocol used by all servers in the fediverse.

I find just being STEM oriented really brings in a nice crowd... Being in the STEM world myself I am bias on this, but I always enjoyed the company of my fellow STEMies :)

But I think there is another aspect, QOTO has always had a big emphasis of "we wont censor you, but be respectful!".. Which has let us be an environment where you can talk about topics that often lead to fights in other contexts but here we amazingly tend to have very respectful and mature interactions anyway... I love it! It seems all the new people from twitter see that vibe and are going with it (its always concerning when there is a new influx in that regard)... so its really great to see that community dynamic being perpetuated and not dilueted.

@EubieDrew Cross posts are fine (though be aware some people really dislike accounts that post twitter to fediverse because it references accounts that dont exist).

As for QOTO your free to cross post but only from QOTO to twitter, going twitter to QOTO is considered a bot post and must be unlisted. IF you are exceptionally active and monitor your account we sometimes make exceptions.

In short if your cross posting from twitter to here and generally ignoring your account here, it wont be allowed unless unlisted.
