#FacialRecognition in China: Citizens are getting alarmed
# Salamander growing from a single cell
> Filmmaker Jan van IJken's Becoming reveals the fascinating genesis of animal life. A single cell is transformed into a complete, complex living organism with a beating heart and running bloodstream. Observe the stages of development that occur within an Alpine newt embryo (Ichthyosaura alpestris) in this fascinating six minute time-lapse captured over a three week period.

So seems shortly before the protestors at the Capitol Hill riots actually overrun the barriers and went from protests to riots the cops there were actively pulling people out of the crowd and beating them senseless even after they were subdued and detained.
Nice way to start a riot huh?
This is pretty frickin' cool. I've been passively interested in the capabilities of arrays of antennas, and I hadn't heard of this project before.

Surprise surprise, 4 out of 5 of the people who died at the capitol hill riots were unarmed and non-violent pro-trump supporters, the one none Trump supporter killed was a cop who was struck in the head while he was actively beating people with his baton, effectively the one initiating violence and the crowd defended itself by the sound of it, in the interaction he got struck and died a day later from the head injury. Its sad that he got hit and I dont justify the violence overall, but if your the one sitting there beating people with a stick people fighting back is kind of the expectation, its not an acceptable tactic against unarmed civilians IMO.

# AAAS Science: Three-quarters attack rate of SARS-CoV-2 in the Brazilian Amazon during a largely unmitigated epidemic
https://science.sciencemag.org/content/371/6526/288
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) incidence peaked in Manaus, Brazil, in May 2020 with a devastating toll on the city's inhabitants, leaving its health services shattered and cemeteries overwhelmed. Buss et al. collected data from blood donors from Manaus and São Paulo, noted when transmission began to fall, and estimated the final attack rates in October 2020 (see the Perspective by Sridhar and Gurdasani). Heterogeneities in immune protection, population structure, poverty, modes of public transport, and uneven adoption of nonpharmaceutical interventions mean that despite a high attack rate, **herd immunity may not have been achieved.** This unfortunate city has become a sentinel for how natural population immunity could influence future transmission. **Events in Manaus reveal what tragedy and harm to society can unfold if this virus is left to run its course.**
It amazes me with all the advanced maths I deal with I am still tripped up with working with percentages in some of their more complicated/advanced settings... figuring out the error percentage of my algorithm is proving more challenging than I had first thought it could be. Have to redo the formula once again...
@freemo this
Why can't we just for once have a democrat president (or republican for that matter) that has a clue.
Stop worrying about fictional categories of guns (assault weapons) and worry about mental health or anonymous gun licenses.
Stop worrying about minimum wage (which just makes the poor poorer) and worry about giving free vocational or university education to those in need.
Quit obstructing pipelines (the result of which is an extreme increase in pollution) and focus on taxing gasoline and using that money to build charging infrastructure
Quit trying to raise the taxes on the upper-middle class and beyond and focus on cutting military spending in half.
Stop doing what makes you look good and focus on what the science says WORKS!
