@freemo As of yesterday I used keto, intermittent fasting and caloric restriction to drop 50 lbs since August 15th of last year. It felt a lot harder in the beginning then I just got used to it. Good luck on your journey.

Well it is settled, looks like I need to buy a P90! I was kinda hoping this would be the one anyway!

I'm only a little over a day into keto and I've already gone feral.. I'm microwaving up hot dogs straight from the pack and eating them right our of the microwave.

@realcaseyrollins Ahh it would seem there is a big chunk of history there you didnt learn.. I'll give you the cliff notes...

Prior to WWII there were now Jews in Israel (called Palestine at the time). Palestine itself was populated entierly by palestinians and had a nomadic desert society coupled with a handful of urban areas, all populated by Palestinians.

After WWII there were a bunch of displaced Jews from the war who refused to go back to Germany where they used to live. As part of the talks at the newly forming UN (of which palestine was not included) they were given sections of land as their own taken away from Palestine without their permission, which they had no way to defend against.

Immediately the Palestinians of course objected and rallied against having their own sovereign land taken away from them. Other middle-eastern nations generally supported the Palestinians. As such a war for them to keep their homeland effectively began that continues to this day.

Since Israel/Jews were backed by much more powerful nations like the USA despite their much smaller numbers and otherwise lack of resources they had a significant upper hand and quickly fought back the Palestinians.

Over the years the Jews continually took more and more land from them for themselves and kicked out the Palestinians who lived there while the USA and other nations kept supporting the Israli side of the war effort.

Now in modern times most of the Palestinian land has been taken from them and owned by Israel. The Palestinians have been forced to live in very small plots of lands and effectively now survive in falling apart ghettos with little fresh water or education to sustain them and very little ability to fight back.

A master was asked the question, “What is the Way?” by a curious monk.

“It is right before your eyes,” said the master.

“Why do I not see it for myself?”

“Because you are thinking of yourself.”

“What about you: do you see it?”

“So long as you see double, saying I don’t and you do, and so on, your eyes are clouded,” said the master.

“When there is neither ‘I’ nor ‘You,’ can one see it?”

“When there is neither ‘I’ nor ‘You,’ who is the one that wants to see it?”

I'm waiting for the new users to say something here and welcome them :mastodance:

Just did some checking and seems QOTO is one of the most federated instances in the fediverse having one of the highest peer counts among active english speaking instances! A quick glance looks like we are somewhere in the top 20 of all servers! Awesome!

One of the best I read in a long time: The Mating Mind, by Geoffrey Miller

George Miller is a professor of Evolutionary Psychology, and the main thesis in this book is that our astonishing mental capacities come (mostly) from sexual selection.

In order to prove that, Miller takes the reader in a trip around the history of the theory of evolution, especially of sexual selection of course, and I tell you: I've done multiple exams on Evolution, Miller is the one who really gave me a good idea of how, how much, when and what sexual selection is all about.

It's packed with juicy, easy to chew paragraphs like how we think the courting worked in the paleolithic, what are the current hypothesis about the origin of the mind, why Wallace was after all a creationist (he denied sexual selection and thought the soul was given to us by a god), and so on. And in some moments I laughed hard, the guy has a razor-sharp humor.

The case he makes lacks evidence here and there, by his own admission, but frankly I'm sold on this hypothesis now.

I totally recommend it, a beautiful read

Just approved 7 new users this morning out of about 30 that applied while I slept. Not bad!

@khird

Here you go. This is italian hand variant but the variants are all very similar and all have these two types if its proper copper plate.

Did you know copperplate based cursive has two distinct forms of r that are interchangable depending on what letters are around.

Below is an example, thr first r is a full r and the second is a half r. I bet you were only taught the half r in school and have been doing it wring this whole time. The two forms of r are standard practice and proper copperplate generally shoukd include both in the appropriate places.

Its been over a decade and this shit never gets old.
