@stux @BreachCat There’s probably more bikes in the canals of #Amsterdam than there are active in the l streets of many other capital cities. 🚲

My very Thai girlfriennd says today "The only game I ever really played was malleo"... and I say "I never heard of that game"... for 5 minutes we argue as she insists I must have heard about it... then she spells it out "mario"... lol OH!

Homework: assume that of all mathematicians with an English-language social media account, 1 in 16 is working with expectations on any given day, of which 1 in 1024 comes up with the above joke, of which 1 in 8 decides to post it on their social media, of which 1 in 2 actually do so. Assume the decision whether to post is a Bernoulli trial.

Write down the expectation of the number of times the joke has been or will be made this calendar week (as of this post) given your current information.

@freemo That got me a short answer

stackoverflow.com/a/73861151/1

that includes a link to a much deeper rabbit hole than I care to explore.

It used to be the case in that

:t 3

would give you

3 :: Num a => a

but

let x = 3
:t x

would give you

x :: Integer

because storing a value in variable forced the system to commit to a specific type.

Nowadays, though, the latter gives you

x :: Num a => a

What changed? I'm at a loss as to how to search the web for an answer to this one.

Was @freemo the Half Life 2 protagonist and hides a Gravity Gun in his basement?

Interesting fact of the day: Fish are the only animal that moves by wiggling their butt.

@freemo

"There's got to be some food in that hand somewhere, and I'm going find it...."

@funny

Its amazing how small changes can improve a speaker system. I moved over to running the main audio line as optical/spdif with the conversion to analog adjacent to the speakers. I also moved the speakers to better positions. The audio is noticeably better.
