*Lynn Conway* RIP 2024
...more info / story...
=======================

woman

Lynn developed "generalized dynamic instruction dispatch" for IBM in 1966.

2 years later she was kicked out, just after Robert Tomasulo published the "Tomasulo Algorithm" for out-of-order execution of floating point instructions, utilizing Lynn's work.

Everyone knows Tomasulo (and he did great work, mind you!), but no-one knows Lynn.

Later, in technical compsci, you may stumble upon highly integrated circuits, everyone there knows but not the inventor, our dear Dr. Conway.

Her story, her struggle against IBM who took decades to apologize to her for her mistreatment. She transitioned in darker times and pioneered not "only" in compsci. She was what many would call "greater than life". She died early Jun 2024.

Today let's remember Lynn 🏳️‍⚧️
Today and tomorrow we fight on ✊
See also: Talk on Wikipedia: Out-of-order execution
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Out

The name of Conway is usually dropped and both concepts (register renaming etc. and multiple-issue) subsumed under one, effectively erasing Conway's work. If it isn't then multiple-issue is often erroneously attributed to Yale Patt.

People's own mistrust IS THE BASIC CAUSE of problems...

SCARED? Yes we all are... but

People's own mistrust IS THE BASIC CAUSE for why we are not working more together over the net or not.
The worse case is claiming "strangers" without making effort to make friends (friends were strangers once or stranger = friends after getting to know them!)

Even if 100% were good here (everywhere or just your instance or some Federated tab... ) still you wouldn't know how to make friends / accept imperfections / to share with others and might claim the shadows are watching rather than fighting forward either to see if that's even the case or just guard up punching at things together to make some progress even expecting problems as building up resilience, experience, humanity, logic.... one big

(pardon the F word at the end but or For the F-in Way!)

Much respect to you and get in touch and let's prove me wrong for a change! Happy to do stuff for / for you too.

LEADERS.... I COULD BE ONE OF THEM!... Maybe you too? (what do you bring to the table?)

Leaders I respect in the first place taking it on the role (not just from empty ego or pure-blaggers) but really reasoned leaders and being a bit daring too is part calculated effort and involvement of almost everyone genuine.

So in comparison I take on a leader role in this post (virtually) and in my head as that is what is needed to start, and you as a follower can confirm and add to that weight (by commenting ideally or adding bell notification to get posts more immediately in respect to some level of importance and compounding that - rather than compounding nobody).

By all means be leader but if not stepping up - you need to allow someone else for a bit, so almost why not me for a bit without answering purely with negatives - see the positives ! Ask and you shall get -

**** having time for people and being tested is the main winner I feel *****

I'm sure any critique doesn't defeat me entirely, NOT because I'm the best but because I have time and happy to listen and let others lead for a bit in conversation... as dangerous as that is, and responding also! (IMAGINE!)
All these others on Fediverse have one-way bots and Twitter echos - PLEASE... I've won already... !

So we need to let others train to lead.. so this is part of that... train me.

I can also have several leaders with me (in case one is sick!) like you or someone else you can appraise or treat as an apprenticeship scheme (like that past apprenticeships of "working on the job" together). That way we don't fall into the trap of expecting 1 person to lead everything but really a whole fleet of leaders build up and accumulate CLEVER NO?

Even if you would call me leader now, (which I'm not trapping you by asking you to say it aloud) still you would imagine others or yourself in a pyramid of leader or learning to consult like formation of planes in the air ✈️ while they scout and discuss stuff)... yes all very metaphorical unless we try it.

So let me say I WANT TO LEAD!
And let you lead too while keeping my logical side of moderation in that... and happy to say of my lacking... since amazingly I know I'm imperfect but really together we can crack it.

And I will accept being wingman, and as the wingman (any gender) this has sometimes the clarity (and not) to mix with another leader's clarity to contrast or purify testing the right move (or both ways), again together!
(we're not against each other but together and with our sharpness in whatever way testing it all out, and you give us feedback).

Why did I write this?

So... you tell me :) (you give feedback / make meaning to it all)

Click favourite or type a bit of a reply if you would *maybe* consider me as a leader or wingman and see what about it :)

I feel like the older / past leaders had this "belief in the one, and the many" thing which has largely been lost and needs a bit of **testing** even virtually at first to then say "fuck what a great person this is" or "this could actually work" eventually ...
...seemingly from nothing...
else consider test done...

❓ What do you think? Production is low but aimed at getting it done fast and out there...

ATARI 51years ago! (+your childhood included I assume!)

Here's my own animated creation using stock graphic of a cassette + animating it.

As a "cheers" to Atari, and homage to what I kind of kinda literally 'LOOP'ed into... (I had nothing better to play with... and then PC came along an well whadda know still using that too!)

Atari name comes from the Japanese term atari, used while playing the ancient board game Go.
(bet you didn't know that!)

And that it was an American company with Japanese sounding name ?

The word atari means "to hit a target" in Japanese and is associated with good fortune; in Go, it indicates a situation where a player will be able to capture one or more stones of the opponent in the next move.

😃 The company fizzled and perhaps Amiga was better but what a storm all that time was!

rather than leaning on

The value of any thing or topic is valued differently between different people.

Math fails us because it depends from writer or reader (whoever is counting or valuing things) what is a given value.... or even to give value at all to things!....

█Is an object worth 1 or 10 to you,,, to find him/him is worth...

█How much is your child worth?

█How much do you love her / him?

█Do you practice listening to your family and given them specific time each week?

This is how mathematics fails as the only tool for measurement tool (for what Government largely is used for humans and human value - because we individuals are all the measurer to our own value and have our own ways for looking at things...

All of us have very unique tastes or personalities so rather than force-standardise we can still encourage and need the uniqueness to be respected.

Even if some people can be loosely grouped - all is almost nuance and cross border variations (more than one box or genre) so almost too dangerous putting too much value and time in analysing that..

While learning is hopefully constant to accept new ideas and concepts, I think this fundamental difference means to say "be careful of labelling things or valuing when it comes to people.

TLDR - Math fails us because it depends from writer or reader who's counting or valuing things what or is given value..

Pleading to others is a bit futile when you are almost the only one feeling how you do about life, and almost nobody else....

Maybe one or two people (literally) feels something partially or for a fleeting moment but overall not much, *at least not to the level of sentimentalism or dedication I seem to have* and ability to cover a lot of attempts quickly in reply.

Just too much in either or many ways. No will power or belief...

To try my best means it only rebounds incorrectly back in my face causing more harm to people from confusion or misinterpretation or defensiveness etc... (it's more misunderstood / tangential / unwanted attention or it's simply just not felt by others - rather than helpful).

It's part of life perhaps, by it is possible to bang your head on wood too easily expecting different. So being more certain somehow is the way...

"Follow Creators, Not Platforms." - Grayjay.app

Grayjay.app is basically an aggregator app for video platforms!

The reason for this app and post goes around YouTube kicking people off (for ages now but maybe increasingly more public as backlash and videos about it) for 0 reason and at best just a general email sent "according to our terms and conditions" etc if you're lucky and almost never any specifics what you did.
Anyway I think they reserve right without reasons, which isn't great when you lost your channel and videos!!

So this post is why Google YouTube it's my favourite avatar at the moment!

And putting my teachers hat on today 🎓 as 👨‍🏫 then I bring you as the next generation teachers, a big answer to the problem about commercial platforms is when it come sto getting kick-off the site unexpectedly off a platform (right now everyone is likely getting kicked off or subject to the random opn YouTube - especially if videos are "too good" in some way or they just basically don't show your comments or video, demote it / shadow ban it etc...).

If you follow Louis Rossman (fighttorepair.org) you'll know what I mean.

So I recommend you check some of his videos using a YouTube filter, like specifically this video and link below about:

Louis Rossman's video:

"Youtube's Legal Team sent me a letter!":

invidious.lunar.icu/watch?v=7Z

(notes below are from 4mins)
A list of YouTube problems as below

█ Banned and deleted without notice / willy nilly

█ Not fair enforcement across all of YouTube

█ They don't tell you the rules that you broke, just you're gone sometimes

█ A lot of content is allowed over others that even become more popular and seemingly allowed to break the rules!

█ Comments are deleted or never show up even from authors commenting saying nothing bad... on their own video!
(comments without curses, no links inside, nothing just comments doesn't work on YouTube or is hit and miss)

█ YouTube AI maybe deletes illogically. Lots of AI type new stuff maybe not fully tested / trying to save money on hiring emplyees...

Overall, it seems the better or real you are the more likely of you getting cancelled!

So this is a solution from YouTube kicking people off silently or without reason:

Grayjay.app so people can "Follow Creators, Not Platforms."

Grayjay.app enables you to create and watch video content in your own terms, fully retaining ownership and having control over what you watch. Your content on your terms.

===================
SIDE NOTE / DIFFERENT TOPIC
1. The Graduation Cap used in this post is the 🎓 emoji which is known strangely as a "mortar board"!
===================

Why pay people when #AI can do your work more for free?

AI done badly or done well - why pay people if AI or computers generally can replace people say 50-x0%?

I believe this is the " Root of / all tech / ... "

Redundant people, dying...

If all our work doesn't aim to include AND improve our position overall as people and keeping them alive (regardless of work saved by computers) then all our work is in vain or progresses the bad / redundancy -

BECAUSE YOU TOO WILL BECOME REDUNDANT AT SOME POINT IF NOT ALREADY...

perspective helps value people regardless of 'jobs' that decrease as time goes on...

Mastodon Backup Viewer Tool - View Your Post Archives in Browser Offline !!
🚀 Amazing - Boost 🚀

bovine.social/mastodon/

(JSON archive file to human readable HTML style page)

==================
Why this tool is needed ?
==================

⚠️ Mastodon DOES NOT HAVE it's own way to show your own posts archive OFFLINE in a HUMAN READABLE format!
(LOL!)

⚠️ YOU CANNOT MOVE YOUR MASTODON POSTS FROM ONE PUBLIC SERVER TO ANY ANOTHER!! ⚠️

⚠️ ONLY YOUR SERVER SHOWS NATIVELY THE OLD POSTS SO IG SERVER GOES, SO DOES YOUR POSTS !!! ⚠️

If you delete your profile / move / admin quits server / servers corrupts then you don't have your own posts in a way you can read!!

LOOOOOL....

What kind of micro-blogger doesn't have already a tool or format you can read yourself in the same way online? Mastodon !

Your backup (if you save it) is 1 big text file, with lines of code parameters + text of posts mixed between it all (all stuck together) - so 1 long line of code and post text, which isn't great as a backup!
No images just hyperlinks to the offline image files if you have them !! :picardfacepalm:  :picardwtf:

⚠️ YOU ALSO *CANNOT* MOVE YOUR POSTS FROM ONE PUBLIC MASTODON-COMPATIBLE SERVER TO ANOTHER!! ⚠️

So if you ever move.... YOU CANNOT IMPORT BACK TO PUBLIC SERVER!! LOOOOOL

NO PAST POSTS IN NEW PROFILE !!!

This tool helps see them offline at least if you're going to move or lose your online server:
