It actually is quite popular, it has been translated along with most expansions. It's pretty common in board-games circles.

@kensanata@octodon.social

A very interesting article I just read.
Did you know that social hymenoptera are pretty important for the yeast biodiversity too?
They host Saccharomyces and other yeasts in their intestine, and act as basic overwintering site, protecting the yeast genetic biodiversity and therefore our fermented food

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/

@crackurbones I don't understand why they say this in the article. The whole is about the impact of amphibians' chytridiomycosis on snakes' population, and out of the blue, with no data, they at the end say that lifting a species can benefit "the whole"? And there's no mention about it in the study they refer to, as far as I can see.

@alex Never thought about this, pretty interesting.

Selfie, eye contact

@tomasino@mastodon.sdf.org Nice beard man. I really like how it gets all white in the goatee.

@freemo
Seems like everything is down again. Scheduled maintenance?

Yeah Gingko is very peculiar, I mean it's the only species of its **division**, that means not only that is rather old, but also that it had accumulated a good amount of features unique to that species and that species alone.

@Formermediocremale
I checked online, seems like how
@alex says that it's starting in the follicle, that means that once it's in the bloodstream and more hair is produced you can find traces there. You won't find residues of a few days ago substance intake a few cm off the scap

@Fullycaffeinated

@tomasino@mastodon.sdf.org so yeah, consensus here is long term diets affects the quality of the hair from the generation, which makes total sense, and in the short term the production of oils and stuff from the head skin, which also makes quite sense.

Thanks!

@billstclair What? Sorry I may be missing something, what do you mean?

@cathal@octodon.social
Nah, Gingko don't make any fruit, it's just a fleshy shell called sarcotesta, that's the part that stinks.

Fruits are basically the ovary of the flower enlarging to contain the seeds, it's a different structure

@mkwadee

@mkwadee yeah, I think he was wrong is all I'm saying

@hwashington22
This was the only answer I could give, but I'm not sure those oils and stuff would get down to a 30 cms hair... maybe yes? Wouldn't know

@alex

@yorelkein@fosstodon.org
You also reckon that's not true?
@alex

@alex Yeah I also was quite skeptical about it, but they were ladies with long hair energetically advocating for it, I am just a short haired dude so I was like "oh... well alright, I guess"

@mkwadee No, I'm serious. I mean, the metaphor should be true in what it resembles, otherwise doesn't make any sense.
