@Gargron We have a weird bug with one of our users, something we never saw before... during the height of the twitter influx I suspended one of our users and later after a vote @trinsec unsuspended him. A few days later he spontaniously got resuspended without showing in our audit log and no mod claimed to do it. Since then we noticed many times the user becoming suspended and unsuspended with no audit trail, manually reverting it doesnt fix anything. It appears casually linked to @trinsec viewing the user's page, if they refresh enough times it triggers it flipping.
Any idea what could possibly going on?

I found this picture of my old, and only, #horse BC. He taught me to ride and moved to Kentucky with me when I started grad school. We were a pair for over 20 years until he passed away in Bluegrass country. I really miss him.

Under Preferences, Other... scroll down and look at your options under QOTO FEATURES. I turned on the Show follow button on timeline and Reflect the following status on the follow button.
Go personalize your own space, it's nice to set it up like 'home'!
@Joshuamcvey I can touch on some of this.
The biggest instances mastadon.social, and ther eare several general instances bigger than us. QOTO is the largest STEM instance on the fedi including, as far as I know, tech instances.
In terms of reach (the number of people who can see you and are seen) QOTO is in the top 20 of all instances. We are not however the least blocked. This number is based on a bomcination of blocking and being blocked so we have one of the biggest reaches. The servers that do block us have massive block lists (and are frankly very toxic). As such those instances have very small reach compared to us.
When a server blocks annother they simply do not communicate, this applies on a personal level as well.

There is sadly a lot of vulnerability to false reporting and is up to the instance admin to bother to reach out to the other admin and do some due dilligance. There are many irresponsible servers looking for reasons to block and as such this is a constant problem.

@Joshuamcvey depends how you want to learn about it... we have tons of posts discussing it, links to historic posts... block lists with threads discussing it, our own forum discussing a few blocks and issues... but no one single place.

@bibliolater yes following a group is perfectly fine of course.. a bot just means you are using a script to post automatically to your account.
@bibliolater Not that I know of, but you shouldnt use a bot to autofollow or anything that might seem rude.. just use common sense.

There is no doubt it is a subjective process. I dont claim to have an objective solution and its one reason there is some room for interpritationn. In the end the only way to know where we stannd is tto see our timeline and moderation practices and judge for yourself ifg it is good or bad.

We basically use freespeech to meann "You cann talk about things without being scared you will get in trouble so long as your making a reasonable effort to be respectful and kind"
It is intended to be a counter to toxic environments where they constantly hear "dog whistles" that dont actually exist and ban you for things you never did but people assumed you would do anyway.
Basically, unless you truely and obviously are a piece of shit you will be welcome... Inn some ways it might be better to just say "non-toxic" but that doesnt really work as well.
