@pschwede So you want to model all aspects of society in the same level of complexity as society then?
You cant, Nothing can model something else in its full detail, the fundemental laws of nature wont allow it. But we can model things in ways that are similar enough to be useful and accomplish some of the same things.
Our universe is governed by four fundamental forces. At least that's what physicists have long thought.
Now, however, new research suggests that there's a fifth force, a discovery that could upend much of modern physics.

#TIL Pluto was discovered using a machine called a blink comparator. This machine dates back to 1904 and — like many things — has been superseded by modern technology. In 1930, scientists knew there was something pulling the orbits of the planets but they didn’t know where it was.
The blink comparator helps you find something that moves by showing you two photographic plates in quick succession. Anything in the same spot on both plates appears stationary. Anything moving in the frame will stand out as it appears to jump from one spot to another.
Here is a free book (Draft) I am writing (slowly) explaining how to analyze AC electrical circuits in the frequency domain.
Anyone who wants to learn the math behind electronics and specifically AC or RF circuits should download it and check it out,

Hi, my name is Max Reinhold Jahnke. I'm 34, and I'm a mathematician from São Carlos, Brazil. The main reason I'm here is to write about my hobbies and connect with new people. I love #mathematics, #reading, #writing, #learning foreign #languages, watching TV shows, and playing video games.
I'm a post-doctoral researcher at the Federal University of São Carlos, and my research field is Partial Differential Equations. I will stop here because I don't want to scare anyone.
I usually read science, fiction, and fantasy. My favorite authors are H.P. Lovecraft, G.R.R. Martin, and V.S. Vinge. Now I'm reading the series The Expansion, and I'm loving it.
As I said, I like to learn foreign languages. Some years ago, I studied a little #Esperanto, but I didn't reach a high level. I can read the Esperanto Wikipedia and some news in Esperanto, but can't speak the language.
I'm always learning. Usually, it is mathematics and languages, but I also like to learn about other cultures, science, and technology. Most recently, I began learning how to bake bread, my main interest is in #baking #sourdough.
Today I am grateful because I learned that "a semisimple Lie subgroup of a simply connected Lie group is always closed [1] pg 615" and I needed it for my research. :D
Are there other mathematicians around here? Please, show yourselves! And tell me about what you are working on. :D #math #maths #mathematics
@design_RG @realcaseyrollins @maison_faim I also have a good list of creative instances here: https://mastodon.art/@Curator/103128327614838775
Let me know if you'd like an invite, I can definitely make that happen! ![]()
@design_RG There is only one sure fire way to ensure a cat doesnt destroy a christmas tree: set up a tree with the explicit intent that you want the cat to destroy it, at that point the cat will promptly ignore its existance :)

@freemo That is very nice, I like t ooffer a sympathetic ear as well. I know it's hard, have been thru it before.
Quite difficult for people to get treatment in many places, long delays before you can see a doctor.
Listening does help. Well done, friend.
@freemo I find people with problems start looking for relationships in order to have something to rely on and to drive away their sadness. That is valid in a way, but I also find that the ones that look at relationships as a way of escapism instead of mutual growth very rarely get over their issues.
