I do think that whenever he passes away (and I hope that's not anytime soon!) I'd probably want to get 2 cats too. Siblings if possible.

@Wenin Hehe. As you probably can gather from my post history, I do use this social media a lot. Discord on the other hand.. barely. ;)

I usually only go on Discord to ask for help about software/games I use on their dev's channels. :)

@Wenin I think most people here already realize that. ;) It's considered very important to have fun at your job.

@Wenin Ooh, still young enough to do annoying stuff! :D Starting to mellow down after ... 5 years or so I believe. Will seriously mellow down bigtime after 10 years.

Sometimes I ponder to get a 2nd cat, but I don't think I can do that to my poor boy. He's not really that social.

@Wenin Yeah, I saw your instance runs Glitch social, a modified Mastodon codebase. :) Mine doesn't run Glitch, but it's also modified. 65k characters which is plenty enough obviously. :D

My account here started on.. well, officially on november 2020 I think. But I've registered since uh.. 2018? Just decided to settle on mastodon.host to chat there until they crashed, and remembered after that that I still had an account here and can just continue because they also have no char limit here. (.host had like 4k limit, which was also nice!)

The quote and RSS features are also nice, and some others that you can read about in the About page. Maybe Glitch got some of that as well.

But yeah, screw the 'micro'blogging. damnit! If we wanted to do that shit we'd just go to Twitter! ;)

@lydiaconwell I usually just block because they're just polluting my timeline. I don't need to see half-nude manga images or something.

@Wenin Oh yeah, that'd be so interesting. People who are on welfare support and would get shafted if they tried to work because they're living off subsidies atm... so they're not incentived to work in the first place... they could actually try to undertake things if they know that it's just an 'additional' to their existing basic income and that they'd not get screwed over for actually trying to work. :P

@lydiaconwell Oh just block them immediately. I mean, not worth obsessing over it. Unwanted content, especially repeatedly, is simply a block.

@Wenin I went from mastodon.social (the first 'main' instance, good chance many people start there first) towards mastodon.host, and stayed there until they crashed so hardcore that I searched for a new place. Now qoto.org is my home, nice features, lots of text possible (no silly 500 chars limit), etc. So, I've been here for like... mm, 1,5 years or so now I guess? Not bad.

Maybe it's a bit too technical for them to figure out which instance to join? It did take me some time at first as well to figure out what they meant with instances. And I moved my account a few times before I settled down.

Yeah, fulltime jobs are still aplenty here, but it's not weird to have parttime either.

@Wenin Yep, with one I have daily contact. With others, once in a blue moon. Just a bit of chitchat.

Wonder why they don't just flock to the Fediverse, they could even make their own gaming instance or something. :D

@Wenin It's why part-time jobs are extremely popular here. It's not like you're working badly that way. You might even have more energy to work efficiently!
