#RandomQuestion for 30/08/2018:
If you could ask one real life figure (living or dead) any question who would choose and what would you ask them?
Hi!
I'm currently enrolled in the Physics Bachelor. I'm very curious about new discoveries and new technologies, hence my presence here on Mastodon (and @QOTO)
I am also an avid reader and I would love to get some recommendations from you all.
Nice to be here.
TOOT!
Hi!
I study photonic engineering. My current main interest is in physical phenomena, including Fourier optics, holography, light sources (e.g. lasers) and optical components (e.g. LCDs).
What do you think of a non-invasive brain interface?

Preferred programming language: C/C++
- Once I learned something about OpenCL, OpenMP, Qt,.....
Favorit operating system: Xubuntu/Win/Mac -> Cross-platform
Favourite musical instrument: Didgeridoo
Nice to be here.
I've recently been reading "The Gay Science" (perhaps a misleadng translation) by Nietsche and I came accross a quote that's a perfect summary for why I made this Mastodon.
Nietsche despite his talent for writing was profoundly embarrassed by it, to quote him "even a parable [of my writing] disgusts me" and he goes on to say
"B: But why, then, do you write? A: Well, my friend, to be quite frank: so far, I have not discovered any other way of getting rid of my thoughts."
Profession Ethics/Morals
Recently, I've found myself in a position where I could pursue a new job in a different sector, one specifically centered around entertainment.
When I originally entered the work force, I had two job opportunities: medical device manufacturer or a Department of Defense contractor. I struggled with the idea of working on a project that "success" meant a better killing device. This was a personal decision and I find no fault with others who work there. It was that I, personally, struggled with being in that profession.
I'm in a similar scenario right now. I have the opportunity for a job in the gaming industry, more specifically, the casino electronic gambling industry. Knowing that so many people struggle with gambling addiction, could I personally be OK working in this sector? Again, this is not casting judgment on others, but rather, making sure that I'm at peace within myself.
I realize that I have to find my own balance, but I wanted to pose this question to #QOTO . Have you ever struggled with your personal moral/ethical positions on a project/job that you were working on?
I'd love to hear from everyone on their thoughts and experiences.

#RandomQuestion for 29/08/2018
Hello #QOTO! Hope you're all having a fantastic day so far. A bit warmer than I prefer today, but it be a perfect day for the beach here in Tel Aviv.
Today's #RandomQuestion is as follows:
You've discovered a machine that will allow you to add or remove one evolved aspect of modern humanity. It would change everyone instantly, and no one but you would know that anything has changed.
As with yesterday's question this machine can only be used one time, afterwards it is broken and can never be repaired.
What do you change?
I would change the evolution of the eye to have more color receptors. I don't have any good reason why. I just think it be neat to see colors I've never imagined before.
Today's #RandomQuestion is...
Hey there #qoto ! Hope you're all having a fantastic day so far. My boss' dog is in the office today, which is always nice. He's an excellent manager.
Today's #randomQuestion is as follows:
If you could solve one as of yet unsolved mystery, problem, theorem or other such unknown what would it be?
Again, no wrong answers!
For me, I'd like to solve the P vs NP problem. It's way outside my skill set, sure, but it probably be a way to get some sort of movie deal, right?
Looking forward to hearing your guy's answers!
@mooselwhipes You have to rely on healthy foods to live a healthy life, too, and that is for the rest of your life as well.
Consider that there is no sharp line delineating medicines and healthy foods. It's more a continuum. Think of a range from fresh vegetables to traditional herbs to synthetic medications.
It's a matter of choosing to consume what your body needs for your current stage of life.

I’ve always been absolutely amazed at how self-regulating the human body is. It can identify where an infection is and send in the appropriate antibodies to heal itself. It compensates for so much and can survive it some of the worst environments (like my college years). I never enjoyed biology but as I grow older I am absolutely fascinated by it.
One of the worst things that has happened to me this year though is the need to rely on medicine to live a healthy life. Well, it’s more of a bittersweet feeling. I hate that I will be reliant on a medicine for the rest of my life but I am so amazed and grateful for the advances in modern medicine.
I won’t lie. There are times when I’m taking my medicine, I mutter to myself, “We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster.”

Hi, Folks!
I am a tenured Associate Professor at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA, USA. I have my B.S. Degree with a Double Major in Chemistry and Physics and my Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry with specialties in Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy, Instrument Design, and Automation Software Development. I teach in an interdisciplinary undergraduate program called Integrated Science, Business, and Technology in which our students study the process of developing scientific discoveries into new products and services using collaborative business practices. I develop and teach courses in Energy, Materials, and Informatics, and have personal research interests in Robotics and Machine Intelligence.
After joining Facebook as soon as La Salle was added to the Facebook servers in 2005 and Joining Twitter in 2007, I created the Facebook and Twitter accounts for the University as I was unable to convince our IT department that it was important for the University to have a presence on social media.
After openly sharing my personal Political positions as a Constitutional Conservative and my support of Donald Trump, the backlash on Facebook and Twitter was so severe that I no longer use those networks.
As a Conservative Academic, I understand and deeply experience what it means to be a minority. I'm giving Mastadon a spin in search of respectful conversation. #introduction
Hello everyone. I am a #PhD student in #TheoreticalPhysics in #Paris. Interested in newer ways of #teaching mathematics to young students. #introduction
I'm a late 20s mechatronics engineer who helps design and build electric vehicles. In my off time I play hockey and hit the gym. I'm also getting used to a life as a new dad!! Looking to connect with some like minded people. #introduction
@mooselwhipes that’s a good point. This could be movie based but it feels more like the hand picked playlist of a 50something woman with poor musical taste.... I say that, because I happen to know that’s what this particular playlist is.
Product Manager and Electrical Engineer in the medical device industry. Public education advocate and regular consumer of tacos and beer.
Excited to learn new things and gain new perspectives.
