@PartialGestalt follow the user gets a notification you followed, and they might set it so they need to approve. It gives you access to both their public annd follower-only posts.
Subscribe does not notify the user and the user can not restrict who subscribes in any way, its completely anonymous. You will see their public posts but not their follower-only posts.
@khird I am the admin, lol.. but i have a guy who helps me with the computers when i dont have time. He is handling most of the shit right now since im so busy. Mostly just day to day stuff. Thing is we make it a point for me to not access the servers when he is as it causes problems. So while he is workinng on the servers i dont pop on there. I can reach out to him easy enough, i just want to give him a break as he adminns many other mastodon instances.

A list is a group of entities you want to create timelines for. Replies is if you want to see the messages they sennd that are replies in that timeline too, or just the top level toots (and thenn you can click on them to drill down)
I would say a safe space is when you can walk in and not be forced to gouge your eyes out. A safe space is having the option to hear and see what you want and be in control... loss of control is not a safe space.

@Hyolobrika I dunno about your situation. All I know is I have never had a problem with them and I know the admin quite well (we have had beer and hung out before and plan to again, he lives near me)... in both cases I've never seen evenn a hint of an issue from him or his instance.
@stux I assume you heard they blocked social because they dont block you?

@freemo It's Orwellian and Authortarian, exactly the thing most "progressives" say they hate. I don't get this instance thing when the tools to block entire instances are in the app, (web browser). Haven't checked to see if Fedilab has that option, but that's the way it should be done. Let the user decide!
@gpowerf yea, or just make it whitelist instead of blacklist (thats a feature) and create your own isolated clique.
@gossithedog edit button is fairly new, but mastodon has had the mute conversation feature for years, or atleast QOTO has, and I dont think i added that as a special feature unless I forgot.
