Don't just teach your students to read.
β€’ Teach them to question what they read, what they study.
β€’ Teach them to doubt.
β€’ Teach them to think.
β€’ Teach them to make mistakes and learn from them.
β€’ Teach them how to understand something.
β€’ Teach them how to teach others.

I feel like we need a bot to post ASSIST and ACM journal papers too. I love the arXiv bots we have so much that it makes sense to expand that a bit, considering we are a STEM instance.

Taking a break now from my assignment game dev.

Implemented simple finite state machine to switch between player turns.

Next up is to actually play the damn board game itself.

Pro tip: If someone gives you a compliment, dont respond by giving them a compliment in return, it will feel forced and insincere usually. Be ok with just saying "Aww thanks I really appreciate that". Compliments are best received when they are unprovoked.

Have I ever shared my blog here? I dont think so. I need to update it but it has a lot of good content if your into STEM. You guys should check it out:

"Birth order refers to the order a child is born in their family; first-born and second-born are examples. Birth order is often believed to have a profound and lasting effect on psychological development. This assertion has been repeatedly challenged.[1] Recent research has consistently found that earlier born children score slightly higher on average on measures of intelligence, but has found zero, or almost zero, robust effect of birth order on personality.[2] Nevertheless, the notion that birth-order significantly influences personality continues to have a strong presence in pop psychology and popular culture.[3][4] " from:

This is a wonderful theory, that really makes sense to me. Wish I had an older Sister to look up to growing up.

@freemo Once a colleague of mine asked if she can borrow the book I'm reading as she thought one of her daughters had recently discovered reading and it would help a lot if she sees her mother reading too. I happily gave her the book even before finishing it. After few days she told me that every night her daughter grabs a book and start to read on seeing her mother read. My happiness knew no bounds :)

@freemo Well she is my iron woman :100a: and yes, extra hug for her today :)

Theconcept of Hijab exists in all religion worldwide (Christian woman , Hindu, Jewess,etc).

@freemo
Wonderful.

I thank the stars who guided me here, a brand new user in fediverse very recently, and finding my home at a place with this very essential control -- I had noted it and used it to block an instance I object to already, days ago. Made a public post and explained it to other users too, because I think it's a great tool to keep things sane.

Kudos, Dr Freemo. This is first class work. πŸ₯‚

Part of the problem, a big one, is the parent's themselves being frayed and distracted by incessant media and notifications, imo.

It is a real concern indeed. WE have too much information, and struggle to cope. A lot of it is worthless, some might say planted for distracting people from more serious issues.

Sometimes it seems that things would improve if we lost some of the current deluge, massive communications overload.

Great article on this from The Atlantic!!

@freemo

I long for the day where mothers spend more time with their baby girls (and boys) reading books and teaching them about the stars than they do taking pictures of their kids in cute outfits...

Sadly things seem to be going in the opposite direction.

@freemo Everytime this page gets posted I have to mention the, uh, better version: thiswaifudoesnotexist.net/ .

More to the point, I suspect because teeth are so simple it's easier to notice that the texture is wrong. Looking at a couple of generated faces I was able too notice weird artifacts on the skin in some cases, but they were much harder to notice than the teeth (if they were wrong).

@Full_marx
Couldn't agree with it more. QOTO is a great community but still your private life and personal ventures should have the high preferences. All the best.
@freemo

I find it interesting that the AI used to produce the faces at thispersondoesnotexist.com/ are so good yet the teeth in the images are usually the only part that looks off, sometimes its really bad. I can always identify it as fake from the teeth where the rest of the face looks real.

Odd because you would think the teeth would be the easy part,.
